Rome should be seen on foot.
by Globies
Rome is like a museum in open air. On every corner you will see something of interest. That makes it very diffcult to describe my favorite thing about Rome. I think that tjhe thing I liked most was the Vatican and its museum. Such splendour and beauty! So many beautful pieces of art that are famous all over the world are right in front of you.. Amazing.. What very much helps in making Rome such a beautiful place, is the weather. October is a lovely time to visit, not too hot but just warm enough to give that mediterranean feel about everything. Late night dining in lovely restaurants, late night strolls...
Cars we want to have in Rome one day
by icunme
Italians love their cars - and I have become endeared to these little cars I see in our neighborhood. The only model I recognize is the Citron and the "naked" Smart - so, someone help me out here if you know what the others are. Thank you, George - TIABUNNA says this second car is a Morris Minor from England! Grazie!

The Roman subway
by Jenniflower
The trains in Rome run on time generally, but are not that frequent. The Rome subway network is much simpler and smaller than in London. It's basically a cross-shaped intersection of two train lines, one running NW to SE , and the other NE to SW. They intersect at 'Termini' station, which is right in the middle of the city and equivalent to Kings Cross in London. So, not bad to use, but we far preferred walking everywhere, as there is so much to see!
Exemplar of Sardinian cuisine
by Paisleypaul about Perdingianu & Croccoriga
This offers the regional cooking of Sardinia which as ever is subtly different to that of Lazio, Sicilia, Toscana or any other regione. We spent slighly more than average here but only because it was the second last night, failing which we would have definitely been back.
* UPDATE #2 * Finally fixed that broken link to their website - it is very slow to load ! - but is now working. Great ristorante, take a look ! From the mixed Sardinian antipasti to fillets in wine and wild boar that made up our main dishes with contorni of patate and asparagi , with mineral water and beers, right to the free grappa we were given at the end this ristorante just does not miss.
Sardinian wine list offered some choices little seen in Rome, we enjoyed the white Cala Vermente (not sure about the second part of the name there)
*UPDATE* Photgraph waiter took of the pair of us shows wine bottle as Argiolas Costamolino *
