Yummmmmy icecream :))
by Jenniflower
Something I didn't know and was interested to find out was that Marco Polo apparently observed the practice of making ice cream in China (who were making it from about 3000 BC) and brought it home to Italy in the thirteenth century!
So the Italians were not the first to make icecream! (You learn somehting new every day)
I nabbed this interesting recipe of the net, let me know if you make it, and how it turns out! :) Renowned for it's ice cream, we were not let down!
We tried a few different types, the only one I didnt like, as it was too strong for me, was a mango ice cream flavour.
Chocolate won hands down of course! :)
These ice cream shops are dotted all over Rome, so you wont have to look too hard to find one when you need one :)
Amazing courtyards in the Palazzo Mattei di Giove
by challenger
The Palazzo Mattei di Giove is generally not on most people’s itineraries, but its courtyard is certainly worth a visit if you’re in the area. The Palazzo now houses the Italian Centre for American Studies and is hidden behind a very unassuming entrance. Step inside, though, and you’ll be overwhelmed by the splendour of its sculptures and bas-reliefs.
See my Travelogue for a few more examples.
You can find the Palazzo near the Jewish Quarter on the Via dei Funari, 3.

II Colosseo
by bren1125
The Colosseum
Probably the most impressive building of the Roman empire. Originally known as the Flavian Ampitheatre, it was the largest building of the era.
The monumental structure has fallen into ruins, but even today it is an imposing and beautiful sight.
Negotiate with the costumed guards for a price of a picture.
