DO NOT STAY HERE!
Bed bugs. The air conditioning does not work and the staff didn't care. Rude staff (I wasn't rude). Extremely small rooms. The hotel hasn't been updated in probably 50 years. Loud street noise in the room with windows closed
The hotel's rooftop bar is worth a visit, but you don't have to stay here to enjoy it. Good location with plenty of other hotels nearby.

They say that dinner at the Roof Garden is a rare delight as the sun sets over the Roman Forum. Well, just go for the view! Don't have dinner there. We did and regretted it. The waiters stood around chatting and neglected us. Mineral water was served warm and their response to my complaint was to stuff the bottle further into an ice bucket. The plates for the hot food were cold and almost everything was neglected. Clearly the view is the main attraction and the chef and staff can be idle without redress. However, they don't neglect the bill: which is for a top class restaurant. A place to avoid!

This hotel is in a perfect location, as you walk out the front door, you overlook the Roman Forum. The staff was extremely helpful organizing taxi's and dinner reservations. The rooms were not huge, but were comfortable, and who spends time in their room when you are in Rome. I'm not sure what the normal price, but we got a deal through the internet, so it was a fantastic value for a perfect location.

I recently stayed 4 nights at Hotel Forum. Although its location is perfect and the view over the Roman Forum from the breakfast terrace is spectacular, there is a lot's of cons to this hotel.
1 - Room windows are not cutting the sound from the street and when on the coliseum side, not only do you constantly ear cars rolling on the fancy not so sound proofing square tiles that pave most of Rome streets, you also benefit from the Irish pub clientele that SIGN, TALK, SHOUT TILL 2 AM at night ... and this goes on ... 7 days a week. Fun, fun fun when you pay 150 Euro/night for a room listed as a 4 stars that looks no more than a 2 stars.
2 - Matresses are so unconfortable that I think they were originally used by Remus and Romulus ... time for hotel management to invest some money there . Fun, fun fun when you pay 150 Euro/night for a room listed as a 4 stars that looks no more than a 2 stars!
3 - Rooms and bedrooms are rather small and one need to be a yoga master to get on the toilet seat! Fun, fun fun when you pay 150 Euro/night for a room listed as a 4 stars that looks ....
4 - Front desk staff is extremely rude and unfriendly. Fun, fun fun when you pay 150 Euro/night for a room listed as a 4 stars that looks no more than a 2 stars. (Have I said that before).
5 - The best of the breakfast is the view. The food itself really is nothing special. Expected if in the end, your hotel only is a 2 stars. Too bad they claim they are a 4 stars!!!
More ... don't be fooled by the nice looking website ... it is not as nice when you get in your room!
Unique Quality: Location ... nothing more.
If you like Irish pubs ... I became aware that there is one across the street !!!!

This is a great hotel in the winter or August, when rates drop by nearly 50%. But the 300 euro price during high season for a double is tough to take. Still, they may have the best view of any hotel in Rome. There's nothing to compare with the view of the Forum and Palatine Hill gleaming with the early morning sun, while you drink your glass of fresh squeezed Sicilian orange juice in season (so red you'll think it's tomato juice!).
The top floor restaurant is also the breakfast room, and I can't think of any place I'd rather be in Rome in the morning. The caffe' latte is very good, as is the entire breakfast. (However, dinner at the restaurant is very expensive and probably not worth it, unless you're trying to impress someone with the view.)
The rooms are adequate size, the bathrooms new. If you can get one of the rooms overlooking the Imperial Forum, lucky you! You can always ask. Many rooms are furnished with antiques.
Unique Quality: The common rooms are lovely, and it has a cozy bar with comfy leather chairs where you can sip a prosecco before dinner out, while you plan your next day.
They cater to business people, so rates are often lower on the weekends.

The Forum is a very good hotel with a wonderful roof deck - the perfect place for breakfast. The staff is very helpful (albeit at times a little stuffy due to their many business clientele). Try to get a room overlooking the forum and the ruins.

We stayed at the Hotel Forum in December and very much enjoyed our breakfasts in the rooftop restaurant (once even on the terrace). The rooms were rather small, sightly shabby and without a view, but the location and the terrace made up for that.
PS: Avoid taking a taxi in Rome, we were ripped of by a taxi driver.
We just returned from Rome and stayed the last night at the Hotel Forum. It was not nearly as nice as the Hotel Mozart, where we stayed at the beginning of our trip. Our triple was tiny, with a queen bed and a single for my teenage son. With all of our luggage in the room, it was tight. The window looked out on an airshaft. Breakfast was okay - all canned fruit. It is a short walk to the Colosseum and the Forum, but much longer to anywhere else, although there is a Metro station nearby. There were not very many restaurants nearby, as there are near the Spanish Steps. I would probably not return to the Hotel Forum.
We stayed at the Hotel Forum from 17 to 20 April, 2005 and our room 402 overlooked the Forum excavations. The room was of a good size and comfortable. The Hotel Forum really is 'what it says on the tin'. . . it is a comfortable hotel in an excellent location. We found the staff more courteous and formal, than warm and friendly. What spoilt our stay at this hotel was after a hard day travelling, our first night's sleep was ruined by the noise of tables and chairs being re-arranged in the restaurant above our room, which went on most of the late evening and into the early hours. To be fair, when we complained at 12.45 am things quietened down a bit, but we felt that staff in a 300 Euro a night 4 star hotel should have realised that scraping steel legged tables and chairs across a stone floor after midnight was likely to cause discomfort to their guests in the rooms below ! Would we stay here again ? With a bit of research we would expect to find a comfortable Rome hotel in a good location that would probably be better value.
Through the recommendation of a travel agent, my husband and I had reservation for at least one week stay at the Forum Hotel. However, upon arrival on April 22, we were quickly disappointed with the surly welcome we received at the front desk and the small room assigned to us: Unpleasant view of the neighboring run down building and noisy street below; Small sized bedroom and bathroom in sore need of renovation, everything looking old and worn out; tiny old fashioned TV perched on a flimsy stand; nondescript decor with cheap looking painting and chintzy chandelier. For the rate charged (250 Euros per night), we expected much better from a 4 star hotel. For all the above reasons, we decided to stay only one night at this much overrated Forum Hotel and move to a nearby exquisite boutique hotel (Celio Hotel) for the rest of our planned visit to Rome.
To its credit, the only positive things we can write about the Forum Hotel are : a/ its unique location: walking distance to almost all famous sites; b/breathtaking view from the roof terrace restaurant; c/ its lobby and sitting room richly decorated with antiques.
All in all, as far as we are concerned, the Forum Hotel does not deserve its 4 star rating. Save your money for far better accommodations elsewhere.
I had a room on the fourth floor with a nice view of the Forum. The view was mitigated by all the noise from the rooftop restaurant above at 7am and again at about 1am as tables and chairs were dragged around.
The cleaning staff did a good job with my room. The breakfast buffet was adequate and the restaurant staff fine.
Wi-fi internet access -- advertised on their website and the main reason I chose this hotel over several others, was very spotty, only available about 10% of the time, and only when I complained that it was not switched on.
The staff at the front desk was generally unfriendly, patronizing and non-responsive.
Absolutely does not earn its four stars.
