Been staying there for a week, have to say it is really easy to meet people at the place.
It is very close to the Termini train station. Free breakfast, kitchen, pup crawls, free Internet, clean, good information point,

Hostel in Rome

by Koreena about Freestyle Hostel

Freestyle is centrally located in Rome near the Termini station. Although reasonably priced and comes with breakfast dinner and alcohol with dinner, this hostel leaves much to be desired. Our first night there we hardly had any sleep at all due to the noise - this is a very small hostel absolutely packed with travellors. They also don't mention anywhere on the net that they have a 3 hour lock out from 12-3 pm for cleaning. And although they do clean with so many travellors packed in such a tiny space it is impossible to keep it clean and I found it to be quite dirty and it had cockroaches. There are 3 rooms in this hostel each with a minimum of eight beds, one bedroom contains one of the 2 bathrooms in it so there is a constant stream of people coming in and out at all times of the day and night, unfortunately we had this room. The upside to this hostel is that the staff are very personable and try their best to make it comfortable for everyone. The food is actually not too bad and there is a very very small kitchen that you can use all day long. Overall, I would not recommend staying here if you are planning to go to Rome! * dinner with alcohol included
* free internet
* acces to the kitchen
* free coffee and tea

I will be in Italy from 14 till 20 of December. I found a like free flight from Eindhoven-Amsterdam to Rome just 25 Euro :)

So i planned 2 c Rome 3 days,Florence 2 days and Venice One day w/out staying.
Do u think is it enough to enjoy all the main attractions ?

And i'm also confused about which hostel 2 choose around there, If anyone has stayed before in Yellow Hostel, M&j Hostel, Freestyle Hostel and Hotel and Hostel Des Artistes before i would be apprecited for any advice.

If there is a VT Meeting or any people there at the same time, Let's have a drink somewhere...

Thanks for help...

Re: Rome-Florence-Venice

by Maurizioago

I would suggest to choose Rome as a base and do a daytrip to Florence.

Otherwise stay three days in Rome and two in Florence.

Venice is very beautiful but too far from Rome or Florence.

See;" for the timetables of trains.

Travel Tips for Rome

Transport Pass/Ticket

by vickss

The best way to get around Rome is on foot. The secodn best way is to take a travel pass which comes in various formats of one day 3 day etc etc.
I had taken a Roma Pass which is a city tourist pass and comes for 20 Euro and includes a 3 day unlimited free public transport pass(which is otherwose available for 7 Euro). The pass is like a small paper card.
The first time(or the only time) you travel in whatever mode(in bus its in the front, centre and back and in the train it is at the entry point of the platforms) you would need to get it validated(basically punched) at the machines. The machine basically sucks the ticket/pass and then gurgles and imprints a date and spits it out back to you. If you have a problem with it just reverse the side of the pass you have put inside. Its not complicated even if it may sound like that.
The passes need to be validated only once and though you would need to put inside the machine while getting to the metro platform it would spit it out without any further validation. In buses you just need to show it if anyone asks for it which is rare as I found.
I hear it is very important specially in the bus as if one gets caught without a validated ticket/pass one has to pay heavy fine even if he/she is a tourist or doesn't understand Italian.
For the metro you would can get access to the platforms only when you get it validated so thats not a problem as you cant get caught:-) but in buses you dont need to put it in the machine again and again after you have done it once.

Icecream in Piazza Navona

by Oana_bic about various coffee shops & restaurants

Piazza Navona is an extremely lively place with open air cafes around it. During summer there are numerous artists who draw or paint members of the public for a fee. The place is crowded each day and there are often buskers and sometimes mimes to entertain.

The Piazza Navona

by challenger

The Piazza Navona is one of THE most impressive squares in Rome with Bernini's absolutely amazing Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (Fountain of the Four Rivers) right smack in the middle of it. The figures represent the Nile, the Danube, the Ganges and the Rio Plata, representing the four known continents of the time. They're so impressive that they warrant an extra Travelogue
