FCO Airport to Hotel Silla

by bimmerman

Can any one tell me the most economical way for 7 people to travel from FCO Airport to my hotel at Hotel Silla (Via Silla, 3)?

The hotel offers 70 Euro for 7 people. Is that reasonable?

with taxi would cost more. there are about 30km.

7 people with luggage? 70 euro? This is a bargain - go for it!

The fixed fare into the city center is 40 euro, but you would need at least two taxis. And if this location isn't in the city center (I'd have to go look at the technical definition since this is on the edge), then you would be in two taxis on the meter, which would be something like 50+ euro each.

Even if you took the Leonardo Express (train) from the airport to Termini, then took taxis from there, well, the train fare along is 11 or 12 euro each (depending on how you buy it) - an easy 77 or 84 euro for the group plus taxi fare.

And presumably, the conveyance that the hotel has set up is just you guys, straight to the hotel, luggage handled (sort of) by the driver...

Say "Yes!" to this offer and be thankful they didn't charge you a lot more(!)

As Bill said, that is a bargain. In fact, so much a bargain I would double check. You also may be able to arrange a private shuttle using one of the limo services. Probably cost around 80 euro. It made a lot of sense for my family of 5. (Note it won't be a limo but probably a large van), Karl

A great deal but do double-check that the price is inclusive for ALL of you and not the price per person.

Travel Tips for Rome

The Trevi Fountain.

by worldkiwi

The Trevi Fountain had to be my most memorable sight in Rome. The beautiful water and the stunning sculpture behind it were unforgetable. Even the hordes of tourists gathered around it didn't bother me. Get an icecream from the nearby shop and enjoy it.

For the most part, banks are generally open from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., then after the afternoon rest period (siesta) from 3 to 4 p.m., and closed all day Saturday and Sunday and on national holidays. Some of the banks keep afternoon hours ranging from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m.

My Favorite Department Store In Rome!

by Krystynn about LA RINASCENTE

La Rinascente

La Rinascente is one of the most famous department stores in Italy and one of my favorite places to shop when I'm in Rome.

Usually I'll come to replenish my Princess Marcella Borghese face products and make-up. Yes, I am currently using this Italian brand and I must admit, I love their eye-mask best! Molto buono! Shoes, Women's and Men's clothes, Cosmetics.... Household products, designer wear etc. They sell everything here! Expect to pay department store prices and more (for designer products)...

Trolley bus line

by thirstytraveller

There's one trolley bus line in Rome, the 90 Express departing outside stazione Termini. Overhead wires, however, don't cover the whole line, so near Termini the buses run on batteries. Solaris trolley buses familiar from many European cities are running on the line.

Fast Food

by vysnaite about Does it have a name?

Italian type of Fast food. We just gave a short look there for a luch, on the way. Fooling around I also took a picture of the meniu. It's close to Fontana di Trevi. if you are facing the fountain then it's in the small street on your left, on the right side of the street. Thus, food was quite good for a luch and ice cream was great (can you find a place in Rome with bad ice-cream? I doubt!)
