European style 4-Star
by trvlhke about Hotel Barberini
The hotel was EXTREMELY convenient for the Piazza Barberini (subway stop), restaurants, taxis and the tram. We were in and out so much we didn't have much interaction with the staff. They spoke English and were at the front desk as soon as you walked through the door. - close to everything
- safe in the room (didn't see that in too many other hotels)
- bar and restaurant on location
- elevator
Location is everything
by nyonnetti about Bed and Breakfast Barberini
We stayed at the Bed and Breakfast Barberini. This is different from Hotel Barberini, so don't get confused. B&B Barberini is a gem. The location is incredible, just minutes from Trevi Fountain. The streets are safe at night and are filled with shops and markets. The accommodations itself were great for us. It is basically an apartment, as the B&B only consists of this one accommodation. The room is very large and consists of a entry way that has bookshelves filled with guidebooks, maps and even an umbrella. There is a chair there as well. The bedroom area can be set up with either two seperate twin beds, or the twin beds can be put together for a nice king size bed, which is what we did. The mattress is firm, but I loved it and slept like a baby. There is a small couch in the bedroom area as well. Attached to the bedroom area is a small room that consists of a refrigerator and desk, along with shelves containing towels and toilet paper. The bathroom is attached to this room as well, and is small but very clean. The downside to the B&B is that, although it has two windows, they do not connect to the outside, but to a ventilation shaft. The B&B is at the bottom of an 18th century building so it can feel quite dark and secluded. However, I found this to be a good quality, because it was private, quiet and dark for sleeping. Another downside is the room tends to get very damp and musty, but this cleared up pretty quickly when the air conditioning was put on.
It was also nice to have the refrigerator-which was stocked with complimentary bottled water.
The breakfast is actually not served by the B&B, rather you receive coupons for the # of people in your party for each day you are there. These are used at a small bar around the corner. The breakfast consists of a croissant and cappuccino. Although simple and not terribly filling, it was pleasant and I thoroughly enjoyed the coffee.

Has anyone stayed in Hotel Barberini in Rome? I have read good things, and would like more input. Thanks.

Hi, no, I haven't stayed at the Barberini but have read great comments about it on www.tripadvisor.com.
Seems to be a nice choice location-wise as well. Apparently it's about 5 minutes to the Spanish Steps.
