Has anyone stayed in Hotel Gioberti before? Is the area safe enough to walk around at night? Is it a long walk from the station termini? Is Hotel Des Artistes in a safer district? Is Hotel Des Artistes a long walk from station termini? Which is a more convenient location for tourists?
Pls advise. Thanks!
4. The Hotel des Artistes is only 500 meters from the Hotel Gioberti, as the crow flies, so there's not a lot of difference in the districts, except that one is on one side of the train station and the other is on the other side.
6. Hotel Gioberti is MARGINALLY more convenient for tourists (it's on the city center side of the train station), but they are so close as to not make a lot of difference.

Jen is right that while there are strange people hanging around, anyone accustomed to large urban centers in the world would find Rome a relatively safe place...
