Hotel Golden was Gold

We were pleasantly surprised about the location. Pleasant suburb - walked everywhere.
The breakfast was extensive and good, as well. The price we got from speaking directly with the hotel was fantastic. Everything in order.

Unique Quality: Free Wi-fi is in the air

Rome find

A clean hotel with comfortable rooms 5 minutes walk from the Spanish Steps/metro and a 2 minute walk to the bus stop to take you to vatican city.

This hotel is very good value for money and although only 2 stars can compete with a lot of hotels with a higher grading. My wife and I stayed in this hotel at the beginning of June 2007

Unique Quality: Close to the centre of Rome

More about Hotel Golden

Lovely experience

by TripAdvisor Member exquisite

Great value for the money. More of a three star hotel really. I have visited Rome with a friend during 28-31 January 2006 and were accomodated at Hotel Golden. The family managing it is very friendly, professional and customer oriented. They speak perfect Italian, English and Spanish and are ready to help you with whatever information or hotel service you may need.
The room was cleaned daily, had a large and well equiped bathroom and we had tasty and healthy breakfast buffet.
The hotel is located in a safe area, surrounded by other beautiful buildings and within walking distance from most of Rome's tourists sites.
We would definetly return there at our next visit to Rome and we wholehartedly recommend it.

What a lovely little hotel in a excellant positon.
Family run they could not be more helpful ,spotless with lots of attention to detail and rooms tastefully decorated and very reasonably priced.
Great little resteraunt around the corner (2 mins way)
called bruschetti, food excellant and such friendly staff. We loved Rome it must be one of the best city breaks we have done BUT be careful we had our wallet pinched on the metro !!!!

Enjoyed the Hotel Golden

by A TripAdvisor Member

My hubby and I liked very much the family atmosphere in that hotel. They were all very friendly.
Location was excellent, so close to Via Vittorio Veneto with so many restaurants (quite expensive though) and to the other main attractions of Rome. One should try the Restaurant "San Marco" situated in Via Sardagne, a block away from the hotel.
DoubleRoom had an excellent size with nice rustic-like decorations. Bathroom and toilet was fairly big and utilities quite new and clean.
Breakfast buffet had a good variety of pastries, fruits, cereals, coldmeats, etc.(quantity was more than enough, I thought). The only thing is, if it could be solved, the dining room is quite small but cozy.
We will surely recommend this hotel to our friends, and will no doubt go back in the future.

excellent choice

by TripAdvisor Member jbrin

I stayed here with my 2 daughters for 3 nights in February. We were delighted with this hotel starting with entrance area - looked old and traditional.Lovely old style lift if you don't fancy the stairs - only 1 floor.
The rooms were fairly small but spotless and had comfortable beds. The bathroom was a good size, shower with plenty of hot water at all times.Linen and towels changed daily.Reasonable storage areas. Not noisy with window closed.
Breakfast was contintal but we all considered that there was enough with choice of breads, cold meats and boiled eggs, cheese pastries, and fresh fruit with juice, tea, coffee or milk.
We saw Guissepe mostly who was most helpful with buses, metro cafes and restaurants. Not all places are expensive, look around.
Some quite close to the "Golden".
I don't walk too well, but every sight was within walking distance. If you want a bus,the cafe on the corner sells tickets
1E per trip lasting not more than 75 mins.
I would visit again and certainly recommend this hotel which is excellent value for money.

Great Place to Stay!

by A TripAdvisor Member

We loved this hotel. We had a double superior room (112) and it was a very nice size with a rather large bathroom. Very clean & quiet. We loved the location, one street off the Via Venito. We are walkers and walked EVERYWHERE! We could get to just about anywhere in 30 min walking time - much nicer than taking the metro. And then we always felt safe and comfortable in "our" area - even late at night. Lots of restaurants right close, and the metro stop is only about 5 - 10 min walk in you do choose that method of touring. Only inconvienence was that we could not connect to the internet in our room, we had to go out to the reception desk to use the internet. Highly recommend this hotel - oh yes, great price! Book directly on their website for best deal.

The Hotel Golden Is A Gem Of A Find

by A TripAdvisor Member

We had a most delightful stay at the Hotel Golden in Rome. The location just off the Via Venito is five minutes walk to the metro station with bus stops even closer. The breakfast is beautifuly presented with a good assortment of cereals, pastries , meats, cheeses, eggs and wonderful coffee. The rooms are spotlessly clean, but the best part of is the way your treated by the staff. It is a small family run hotel and the service is outstanding. Giuseppe and Marco go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We are looking forward to a return vist to Rome with our adult children and it would definitely include a stay at the Hotel Golden.

Great find in Rome

by TripAdvisor Member pravasi_bayarea

This is an excellent hotel in Rome and a great deal. It was a short walk from Spanish steps and Trevi fountain and the neighborhood (Via Veneto) couldn't be better. The rest of the locations are easily reachable using the metro or bus and it's only a 10 minute walk to the nearest metro station.
Marco and Giuseppe are very helpful in providing any help necessary and also arranged a pickup from the airport.
The morning breakfast was adequate and the rest of the facilities are as advertised.
The only downside is that the walls are thin and you can hear noises from other rooms and the street but it's not excessive.
Overall a great stay !!

Excellent location!

by TripAdvisor Member Adders

The Hotel Golden is well priced for the location. Next to the Via Veneto and close to bus routes and the Metro making it easy to get everywhere, (we found out about the underground route from Via Veneto to the Spanish Steps with a small supermarket and moving walkways on the last day, shame as it was much easier than the hill). The rooms were very good and breakfast was as much as you could eat. It is well worth booking a taxi direct from the airport at 35 euros. Marco and Guiseppe were very helpful and are very good at giving you information. The bar on the corner is entertaining and a great place to watch the world go by, the Bruschetta across the orad is also very friendly. We loved Rome and will go again, a lovely safe city with so much to see. We will book the Hotel Golden next time.
