san lorenzo nieghbourhood question

by milan2003

hello - vt'ers hope everyone is enjoying this sunday,

question - san lorenzo neighbourhood area (about 10-15 min walk to termini station near the university):

-is this pretty centrally located? - going to rome for the first time!
-is it safe - any concerns for staying there for a week?
-if i find accomodations for about 45 Euro - is this a good price?

and any other details you can offer -

thanks
ciao

CIAO!!

S lorenzo is the neighbourhood where students live. It is a nice area in the sense that you would be in a place where Romans live! it a funny multicultural and crowded (at night) area. Full of pubs, some club and very good restaurants where you can still eat very well at reasonable prices!

The problem for a tourist is that not very well connected!! you would need to walk to Termini station to get the metro and it is even more than 10 minutes. In other words if you were asking beacuse you want to move to rome I would say yes! for a vacation I would say to check for a B&B in trastevere or Colosseo area... if you see what I mean!

PS is the hotel laurentia for 45 euro at night??

Ciao Mauro

Buona sera,

I have lived in Rome for several years now and can help you answer this question. San Lorenzo is a very trendy area of Rome. Full of students, alternative lifestyles, bars, and night spots. 45 Euro per night is not a bad rate...is this in a B&B? I do know of several others that are competitive in other areas as well if you have a preference.
Feel free to ask me any additional questions you may have. My direct email is mionratzinger@yahoo.com
Good luck and buon viaggio!
