This is NO Palace!

Good location but that’s about all this hotel has going for it.

Rooms are very small, noisy and VERY overpriced. We could hardly move in the tiny bathroom. We were supposed to have a non-smoking room, but it was clear that the room was designated smoking or non-smoking at the management’s whim since it was heavily scented with deodorizer in an attempt to cover up the stale smoke smell.

The continental breakfast was adequate but would have been much better if the scrambled eggs and bacon weren’t undercooked. Instant coffee was dispensed from a machine which tasted horrible. The tablecloths in the breakfast area were dirty and full of crumbs from previous guests.

The elevator broke the last morning of our stay so we had to carry our own luggage down 4 flights of stairs. The maid walked in on me in the bathroom at 9:30am although checkout was not until 12:00pm. When I complained to the management at the desk, there was no apology, just a blank stare. They didn’t care since we were leaving.

Contrary to the name, this is NO Palace! There are many hotels in Rome – I would look elsewhere.

Comfort Within Centre of Rome

Our 5 day stay at the hotel was most enjoyable, we had an excellent room well furnished and airconditioned, with good linen and fresh towels daily . A good American breakfast was provided, however between 6:30 and 7:30 am the breakfast room was a little crowded due to people on coach tours eating early before departure. For those requiring a more leisurely breakfast there was plenty of tables available after 8:00am.
We had 4 days in the hotel before joining our Globus Tour and found it well located , only a 5 minute walk to the Corso, the Via Veneto was 2 minutes walk, Spanish Steps 5 minutes, the Villa Borghesse 10 minutes away in the park.
We walked everywhere, to the Coliseum , Forum, etc, the Barberini metro train station was a 7 minute walk and from here you could travel all over Rome.

Unique Quality: Great location in an upmarket area, but walking distance to many sights. Good, affordable local restuarants close by. We were very happy with our room.

Ludovisi Palace Hotel

This is an old building dating back to early 1900s. The best thing to do in Rome is take off by foot and explore. There is so much to see and do. Go out and enjoy the locals. The baroque churches are a must see as well as the beautiful gardens and fountains. The open top bus tours has a stop on the Via Veneto at the end of our road, which is very convenient.

Delicious Meals & Cakes, Eat In or Take Away

by Mikebb about Gargani SRL

This is a local restaurant food store, they make beautiful salads, pasta dishes etc, cakes , coffees . They create daily specials for lunch and dinner and once they are gone you have to choose something else. You can eat in or take away. We were staying at the Ludovisi Palace Hotel one street away and each afternoon I would purchase 2 pieces of beautiful cake and take to our room for afternoon tea. The restaurant is open for evening meals.

Rome Accommodation

by freddie18

Will be in Rome for 4 nights (Arrival: December 26, 2006 at 2145H Departure: December 30, 2006). No confirmed accommodation until now. I need help from fellow VTers who can recommend a good hotel regardless of rate. Needs only one room for 4 adults if at all possible. Should be accessible to subway train or a little bit close to Rome attractions.

Any help will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Have a look at Aurelia Residence(www.aureliaresidence.it). It's an apart/hotel with a 5 minute walk to the Vatican and the San Pietro train station. The room can easily handle 4 people.
Also, the Hotel Del Senato, on Piazza della Rotunda across from the Pantheon has a large suite(2 levels) for 4 persons.
Also, check the website www.venere.com. The have a large inventory of hotels and the website is user friendly for the different areas of Rome
Enjoy!!
