More about Hotel Navona
We had a great time at Hotel Navona

We stayed at the Hotel Navona in August of 2003. We loved the location. We walked all over Rome and saw everything there was to see. We spent our evenings at Piazza Navona where we could eat and watch the people. The two to three blocks we walked back to the hotel late at night was never a problem and we always felt safe. The climb up the stairs was something else (we stayed on the top floor), but we spent very little time in our room, mostly going there to cool off since it was extremely hot. In the mornings we walked to the Campo de Fiori to get our breakfast from the fresh fruits displayed there at the market and the bakery just off the market. The staff was really nice to us from the time we called to make our reservation until the time we left to catch our plane at some ungodly hour. The front desk arranged a ride for us and the ride showed up promptly and got us there on time, although it was an exciting ride. When we go to Rome again, we'll definitely consider Hotel Navona again. For the price, you can't beat it.
Navona is a no go.

While on a two week college art history study trip, my friends and I had the displeasure of spending three nights at the Hotel Navona. The Hotel was not kept clean, there were stains on the mattresses, and the building seemed to be neglected, and not in that antique-European style!
The staff was quite rude and refused to help us call our families on the other side of the world.....
The hotel did offer breakfast however, and what an experience that was. If you love extremely stale rolls, and one packet of jelly each, then Hotel Navona is for you. The coffee was pretty good though in giving you an extra caffeine burst after nights of not sleeping in the discgusting rooms.
Thankfully Navona was our first stop in Italy, and did not set a precedent for the rest of our travels.
Great Value -- Especially for its Location

This is my 2nd stay at the Hotel Navona in the past year. The Hotel Navona is in an EXCELLENT location and although the rooms are clean they are quite small. Especially if you are accustomed to typical United States hotel standards. I will say that if you are looking for a hotel that serves an extensive breakfast and includes all the ammenities such as a televsion, bell hop, room service, concierge that large hotels often provide, then the Hotel Navona may not be the right place. This hotel is ideal for the traveler who wants a good value, good location, clean accomadations but can forgo the extra services a large hotel provides.
great place to stay and affordable

We recently stayed at Hotel Navona in Rome. The rooms were great, quiet and centrally located. We were able to walk to every tourist attraction in Rome and easily find our way back to the Hotel. The Piazza Navona is but a block away and it is surrounded by restuarants. At night the Piazza is a hub of activity with artists, singers and dancers. It was a great place to stay and they spoke English there. The rooms were very affordable, had showers, toilets and air conditioning.
We were deceived.

Beware of the very deceiving web site of Hotel Navona. It is very basic, which we expected for the price of $170.00, however, it is not at all what is advertised. Our view was overlooking a roof top of trash, hanging clothes, and cleaning supplies. The bath towels were kitchen towels and had stains on them. The owner was very arrogant and rude. He was quoted as saying his hotel was a "palace". What a joke. The pictures on the web site are very misleading. The entry to the hotel had trash piled up and bags of potting soil laying around. It was not a very nice place. Keep looking, I think you can find something better for the price.
Small but comfortable

Hotel Navona is located a block from Piazza Navona and a block and a half from The Pantheon. It is a normal european hotel with very small rooms and bathrooms. The staff was helpful and the place is owned by an Italian prince from Australia! The bathrooms are very small but the shower is great with endless hot water. The best part of this place is the location and the rate was good given the location. The hotel is also near a bus stop which is very convenient. It is not an american hotel with huge rooms and bathrooms. The continental breakfast is not what we in America expect but the coffee is strong and fresh and you are welcome to as much as you would like in an hour. The hotel doesn't normally take credit cards though they have a machine. The reason is the number of people who complained about the rooms and the credit card companies did not pay them. The place is not that bad. The rooms and bathroom are very small as is the case with most european hotels. The staff will help you and try to make your stay pleasant. The owner is a interesting fellow that was educated in the USA and speaks english fluently. I would recommend if you are a couple looking for a clean confortable room in a great location in Rome. Otherwise, go to a five star hotel for two to three times the rate.
Location, nothing else!

We stayed at Hotel Navona for a week in Jan-Febr of 2005. It was extremely disappointing and not at all like the photos on the internet! Breakfast is cold, a hard roll or stale "pastry", very strong coffee, one butter packet and one jelly packet. You may ask for tea and orange juice and more of the butter or jelly if you are brave enough to face the most unfriendly waitor in the world. O.K. we did not come to Rome for the breakfast. The room, well, I came home with bruises on my shin from bumping on the bed every night! The bath was the tiniest, except for our friends who were in a tinier room! Other Staff were o.k. sometimes friendly, more times not. Why did we stay? I made the arrangements and the others did not want to hurt my feelings. I offered to move but the location is wonderful(find something else, there are dozens of other choices in this same area) But this was clean and we got use to the smallness. I learned a lesson-don't trust photos! Anyway, it was an experience!

Does anyone know the date of completion for the restoration of Bernini's Fountain at the Piazza Navona, Four Rivers? Any information, contacts or guesses will be appreciated.
