Great Location Hotel in Rome

Hi Lynne,

We have a friend who highly recommended Hotel Parlamento to us after his stay there. It is really more of a family run B&B in an 16th Century Palace & the price is much less than he expected to pay for the location. It is short walk to Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Partheon, restaurants, cafes etc.

He also advised us to ask for one of the larger rooms that open up on to the rooftop terrace either #104 or #106 this is a great place to sit & sip a wine or cappuccino

www.hotelparlamento.eu

"The family-owned Hotel Parlamento is located on the fourth and fifth floors of a sixteenth century Palace, in-between the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. .

The Hotel is provided with an elevator-lift and roof-garden, which gives a charming view of the rooftops of Rome. Besides all modern comforts, its ancient walls offer a quiet refuge.

The hotel is also listed in the most important guidebooks: Quality/Price Award for the years 2000 and 2001, assigned by the guide "Gambero Rosso".

We have booked it for a week next year

Cheers,
Gaye

#1 for Location & Hospitality

Our family of 19 stayed at the Hotel Parlamento for three nights in June 2009. Our stay was everything you could ask for and more! Tiziano and his family are the best! The beds were comfortable, the continental breakfast was wonderful, and the hospitality was exceptional! You cannot ask for a better location when in Rome. The hotel is just a half block off the Via del Corso in the heart of Rome. We walked everywhere; it's about a 30 minute walk to the Colosseum, same to the Vatican. The Trevi Fountain is just a couple of blocks away. We will definitely stay at the Hotel Parlamento whenever we return to Rome. You can't beat the value for such a great location!

Romes Most Charming Hotel

The stay at the hotel was so charming, they went out of there way to take care of us from the time we set foot on Italian soil.We had requested a car there(comprable to the taxi fare and much more comfortable),you arrive at a place that looks like you are entering a villa. You ring a bell that says Parlamento, and they let you in unless it is during the day and it will be open. Then you walk up a few flights of stairs,to their own elevator.the elevator is small ,but that is ok,just take turns when going with a group. If you need help with the luggage just let them know. When you get to the other door just ring the buzzer and they will let you in.The you go into this wonderful area(a villa that has been turned into a hotel, how much more italian can you get.).There at the desk is either Mr Chini,Tiziano,Andrea,Roberto,Paolo,Giorgio.
They will help you with everything you need, making reservations at museums, and such.If you are worried about the language barrier don't be.They are quite charming! There is a continental breakfast servied there, which is quite nice(best cappucino in town!)The rooms have antique furniture, you can either request a shower stall or a tub.I have stayed here twice and will be returning in 1 year.I think all the rooms are great,so you can't go wrong and with a view like Rome who wants to stay in their room.I would most certainly recomend this hotel to everyone and have!I have stayed in five star hotels and there ok,when you have that personal touch and kindness they give at not five star ratthat counts more in my book. They are very dear friends after 2 visits. So if you go tell them Karen from New Orleans sent you!

Unique Quality: The best thing besides the kind staff is the balcony!

in the heart of Roma...

This is a lovely little hotel. It's right in the middle of the action, and it's only 98E a night for a double room in November. Room 104 was reasonably spacious and had a door onto the terrace - a huge bonus. The bathroom had all new fixtures and even an American style electric outlet! The owners are very very friendly and helpful. You will really enjoy your stay here.

Edit: I stayed a second time and this time they put me in a small double - room 90. For late May the price was still only 114E a night. My home in Rome.

Unique Quality: Rooftop Terrace. Friendly proprietors and managers. Marvelous location.

this was maybe a 15 minute walk from Hotel Parlamento. maybe 5 minutes from the Spanish Steps. absolute bliss. I am not a pizza eater (it's true) but it's mostly b/c what you find here is bland and boring - Dominos and Pizza Hut??? forget California Pizza Kitchen either...but THIS, this was excellent. Margherita Pizza!!

Perfect Place to Stay in Rome

by A TripAdvisor Member

We just returned from a 4-day stay in Rome and stayed in Hotel Parlamento. It was clean, centrally located and reasonably priced. No wonder they fill up fast. I can't emphasize how great the location was. We could walk to most of the major sites, except the Vatican. It was 4 blocks from the Spanish Steps one way, and 4 blocks from the Trevi Fountain the other way. There was an autogril across the street, which came in handy when we were in a rush to eat. The bus stop and church were also just 1 block away. The staff was very polite and helpful and most spoke very good English. They are also able to arrange tranportation (to airport, to cruise port) with reliable drivers at good prices. The breakfast was also very satisfying. Nice selection and served early. That came in handy for the days when we had to be somewhere by 8:30 am. I will plan on staying here when I return to Rome.

Central Location -- Great Hosts!

My husband and I had some trepedation when we heard there were stairs to climb prior to getting on the lift to the reception area at the Hotel Parlamento. But after the first day, it was a piece of cake. There is so much walking and climbing in Rome that a few extra stairs once or twice a day did not matter. Once you arrive at reception and are greeted by Tiziano, Andrea or one of the other attentive family/staff members, you are home.
We chose to stay in one of their rooms that has a doorway out to the rooftop patio. (It's a little extra). When we were there in early November, the weather was perfect for either morning cappucino or wine before dinner on the patio. It was nice to hear the distant hum of the city. The incessantly noisy Vespas of Rome did not interfere with our sleep as the windows sealed the noise out each night.
Our room was small, but not claustrophobic and the bathroom (also small) was more than adequate with plenty of hot water in the shower. European rooms are notoriously small.
Breakfast (rolls, croissants, cereal, yougurt, tea and great cappucino) was served in the area near reception and gave us an opportunity to meet other travelers and get tips on what to see and do. This was our first time to Rome, and will certainly not be our last.
What an amazing city! The Parlamento is perfectly situated in that we walked everywhere - Colleseum, Palatine, Piazza Navonna, Piazza di Popolo, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps. If our knees were worn from climbing to the top of Michaelangelo's Dome at St. Peters, we took a bus or taxi (always readily available around the corner from the hotel).
The colors of Rome are magical, especially towards sunset. We tried to see and do it all in 5 days, but that is impossible. We will return to Rome to continue our adventure.
If you're interested in convenience and not glamour, this is the place to stay. After much comparison shopping, we think we lucked out with our choice in accommodations in Rome.

Nice location great place but not perfect

by A TripAdvisor Member

Overall, a great place to stay. We were here for four days on hour honmeymoon. Location is excellent, staff is very friendly. We walked everywhere except for the vatican. The car they arranged for to pick us form the airport was a nice black mercedes with leather interior. Definitly a nice way to start the trip. Breakfast was good. Coffee was PHENOMENAL in the morning.

The only negative was that the room was not very large. The shower is also tiny. Also, things are kind of of crammed in the hallway etc. Not a typical hotel for sure, so if you are expecting one with downstairs lobby, gift store etc you'll be dissapointed.

but I would reccommend staying here--with the best thing being the location.

Couldn't have been better

This hotel was absolutely perfect; the rooms were lovely, the decoration was elegant and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. The roof terrace was a lovely touch and made my stay all the more relaxing. The flexibility of breakfast hours suited the not so early riser! All in all, the location of the hotel, its quality, and the kindness of the staff made my stay in Rome fantastic.

Great pensione

by TripAdvisor Member kathi57

We stayed here last month for 4 days. The location is excellent. We could walk to all the major attractions, very near Spanish Steps and Pantheon. The staff was great, especially Andrea, very helpful with directions, arranging taxis, etc. Our rooms opened onto the rooftop terrace, would definetly recommend these rooms. They offer a simple breakfast each morning, fantastic coffee. The other guests we spoke with also seemed to like the hotel as well. Would stay there again.
