Re: Private driver from Rome to Florence.....

by GiorgioVRitaly

Hi,
I used this service some years ago for several months, traveling every week to Rome.
The service was always great and I gave this info to a lot of other friends in the past.

Since I'm reading here a lot of posts regarding price and safe transport (expecially from women that are traveling alone) from Roma airports - Fiumicino and Ciampino - and other posts regarding daily tours around Rome or transport to Civitavecchia or Napoli, I contacted the company and I hope to help the VT travelers with my infos:

from Roma Fiumicino or Ciampino to downtown EUR 44,00
from Roma to Civitavecchia EUR 130,00

ask for other services: e-mail camorservice@tin.it
quoting flight number and air company and the airport
Fiumicino = FCO
Ciampino = CIA

Someone can find the prices more expensive than a taxi but I think that the service (the driver will wait you into the airport) is good and safe.

Travel Tips for Rome

Explore the remains of the old...

by DanielF

Explore the remains of the old glorious days of the Imperial Rome. They are to be found all around the city, but the biggest concentration is, obviously, the area of the Imperial forums. You can see more pictures in the travelogue.

Bones Everywhere!!

by BIW

This is the strangest thing I have ever seen. It is a dedication to death. And yes, those are all real bones from the monks who lived there and believed in this order. The dirt was transported from Jerusalem. Even the lightbulb holders were made from bones!

It is called the Cemetery of the Capuchins-3rd Chapel and located at Via Veneto 27.

Groovin' diversity on Fridays with Muccassasina

by Jeannkelly about Qube Disco

When it's Friday, it's Muccassasina night at Qube Disco. Definitely a place for those who love diversity. Primary a gay spot but there are a lot of heterosexuals coming to this place. You can choose 3 varieties of music to groove with. First floor has disco music and ideal for fag-hags, generation of the 80s and disco-music lovers alike. The second floor buzz with hiphop, R&B and generally black music while the 3rd floor buzz with ultra-house music.

There are also drag performances every now and then.

Entrance cost €15 for non-members inclusive of 1 drink. Come as you want but if you feel like dragging, sure you can come with whatever costume you like! Ideal for transvetites and fag-hags.

Fine Dining in Rome

by Rushland about La Pergola

La Pergola is located on top of the Cavalieri Hilton which overlooks Rome, which is one of the best views in my opinion. This is fine dining at it's best. It's formal, but not too stuffy. Big time chef, Heinz Beck is at the helm and does a superb job. Service is top notch. They have a very extensive wine, champagne, coffee, and tea list. They grow some of the tea on the premises and they clip and steep the tea leaves in front of you. The have outdoor seating, but it was full when we dined. Some people make reservations up to six months in advance, if that tells you anything. I made our reservations about one in advance. If you have some cash to spend, this a great choice. There were three of us dining and we shared everything. Everything was so good, I can't pinpoint anyone particular dish.

San Clemente church

by ATLC

This church is not what it seems. Because below the church there are catacombs. Rome is built in layers over the centuries and streetlevel today is much higher than it was before. This church is built upon another church. Which you would now consider catacombs. But wait, below that lower church is a Roman house!
This tip is about the newest church, dating from the 12th century A.D. You can find a load of information about it in the link below.
What struck me about the church is that it feels real. Not touristy. There is a wall painting of St. Paul with a square halo. This is very unusual. Usually these are round. But square means 'alive'.
On a practical note: on entering the courtyard in front of the church, there is a toilet on your right hand side. Might just come in handy!
