Make the right choice at the airport! by lichinga
Very important trick for people arriving at Fiumicino airport. As everywhere in the world, you'll be pushed towards 'taxi', but you may as well use the train, which may be reached following the arrows 'stazione'. Once you're there, if you simply ask for a ticket to Rome, you'll be paying 9 Euro for the 'Leonardo Express' service going no-stop to Roma Central Station (it's called 'Termini'); but you should just take care not to go to the railway ticket office! Buy your ticket at the newstand just beside on the left and ask for a 'metropolitano', the ticket will cost 4,70 Euro and you will stopping all around the railway stations of Rome (Trastevere, Ostiense, Tuscolana, Tiburtina; except for Termini).
If you need a quick guide to trip planning using public transportation in Rome between two points, you may use the interactive table at www.atac.roma.it/trasroma/oraperco/infopoint/infopouk.htm.
