When in Rome the one thing you...
by Esther75
When in Rome the one thing you absolutely must visit is the Colosseum and the Forum Romanum. I would suggest to take the subway and exit at 'Colloseo'. We did that and when we came out of the station we were just perplexed for a few minutes. So be prepared! Well the best thing about Rome is, you can stroll around in this city and find something interesting on every corner. It's just the atmosphere of this city that never sleeps. I didn't got the feeling that I was a tourist looking for the next historical attraction at all!
Cafes around university area
by tim2788
We stayed around the University campus in rome. There are lots of small pizza cafes around the more residential areas, these cafes are really cheap and amazing authentic food. Only trouble is they do not speak English so some basic phrases are recomended!
Cafe society ?
by engitalunion about Piazza Navona
The buzziest place full of people, many of them students from a nearby University. Lots of bars, restaurants, people and the place where the Romans go .
This Square [ Rectangle really ] has a couple of fountains and was once one of the [ smaller ] places where chariot racing took place.
We were taken here by the brother of a friend who has lived in Rome for 15 years. None . But the Italians can wear almost anything with great style.
Credit cards and ATM- NO!!!
by Sarita76 about Antico Falcone
"Bancomat e carte di credito- NO!". Several signs on the walls remind you to take "real" money with you. This trattoria is one of the oldest in Rome, as it's there since early 20th century. The place and service is very simple and genuine, very "Roman", I would say. If you want to taste real roman cuisine and just look for simple food, then have a go. You won't be disappointed. "Pasta alla nasona" (rigatoni pasta with a sauce made of tomato and cheese) is their special dish. It looks and tastes like your nonna's pasta. Cool! You can also find all typical Roman dishes such as bucatini all'amatriciana, spaghetti alla carbonara, penne all'arrabbiata, carciofi alla romana. And believe me, they're all very tasty. Worth a visit, definitely.
