Excellent choice
Stayed in Rome for four nights taking in the rugby international. The Raffaello was an excellent choice. Spacious room, very clean, helpful and friendly staff, great breakfast.
Would use again.

Selected this hotel based on previous recommendations. Hotel is typical of European hotels, small rooms, small lifts that delivery you between floors.
Good points
a) good location no more than 10 minutes walk to Termini (main station) or Cavour (Metro station). Also 15 minutes easy walk to Coliseum.
b) good reasonable eateries on Cavour street within 1 to 5 minutes walk from hotel
Hotel Hospitality
a) friendly staff
b) good breakfast but the same every day (continental plus scrambled or boiled eggs, cheese, salami, pastries etc.
c) clean, tidy rooms. you do need need to get a room with a street view or else you may be looking at blank walls or downpipes. Floor 5 has small balconies on some rooms ( we were on 4th floor).
Downside (for us at least)
beds - hard and uncomfortable (may be different in other rooms, (we had room 410)
shower - if you are on the large size getting in and out may be problem. An engineering degree on how to use showers may also be useful but once mastered you can go from shower to spa sprays.

Nice clean hotel with friendly staff. In a good location for getting around although wouldnt feel 100% safe walking around at night but then not sure you would anywhere else in Rome. Room lovely (view of a brick wall but then spent hardly any time in the room so it didnt matter). Good breakfast and staff helpful and informative.
This is a superb little hotel; immaculate, well maintained, friendly, comfortable and very accessible. Rooms have been recently refurbished, and finishings and appointments are very high quality. Jacuzzi multi-point massage showers are to die for. Breakfasts are wonderful. Easy walking distance from Termini Station, even with light luggage (Via Urbana is one block parallel to Via Cavour - hotel is on a line with St Maria Maggiore). Taxi from Termini between 8 and 10 euros. We'd go back there anytime - and stay longer. You can't miss with this one.
I just returned from an all too short visit to Rome. My wife found Raffaello Hotel on Tripadvisor and seemed very confident in the reviews. I found the hotel perfectly located and very welcoming. I walked from Termini and found the hotel friendly and extrememly clean. The breakfast was really wonderful. I wish I could have stayed longer and will definitely go back. I would highly recommend this hotel.
We loved the hotel. We were made to feel welcome and the room was great - comfortable bed! The hotel was within easy walking distance of Termini station, Colosseum, Forum, Trevi, etc... Breakfast was excellent. We hope to go back to Rome soon, and will definitely stay at the Rafaello.
Just a short walk down Va Cavour from Termini ( don't panic the Termini area is quite ok).The hotel is off a quiet side street. I had a balcony which was great,( 5th floor) and the room was lovely. Shower good, powerful. And the room was cleaned immaculately every day.Reception easy and no hassle, breakfast good. A calm and pleasant hotel. Quiet at night. The lift is teeny! I found it ideal ( I am quite a walker), to have as a base. I actually walked all around Rome, and found this area easy to negotiate from. Not far from the forum, and from there you can walk everywhere. It's good for the train station for day trips ( I went to Anzio and Naples, using their easy and cheap rail services. Anzio is lovely).
I loved Rome, and found it to be a lovely city, full of charm and things to do. Not a hint of trouble. And Italy had none of the antagonism or stress, that I have to deal with day to day living in the U.K
The Raffaello lived up to its reviews - spotlessly clean with friendly, helpful English-speaking staff. Good buffet breakfast but queues can form for the small eating area if you leave it until later for breakfast. With two young children we booked a family room and were pleasantly surprised to find we had two rooms - one twin-bedded and the other with a double bed. No view - except of the light-well - but with so much to see and do outside, who needs one?! The hotel is ideally situated - 10 mins walk to Termini for Nos. 64, 110 and airport buses. Metro stop at the bottom of the road. 10 mins walk to the Collosseum and Forum. The Termini district is fine - we had no problems out and about with young children. Rome is a fabulous city with loads to see and do - frequent ice-cream stops kept the children from flagging. Est Est Est restaurant, just off Via Nazionale, is 10 mins walk and worth seeking out for authentic, long-established Roman pizzeria. Hotel will book taxi to Ciampino airport - flat 45 euro fare for a new, large Merc to deliver you in comfort.
We chose this based on location; easy walking distance from Termini, 10 minutes walk from Colloseum, Forum etc, and we found Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps, Pantheon etc all within easy (<30 mins) walking distance. District wasn't the plushest end of town but we felt safe walking back at night (or at least safer than we would in most UK cities).
The hotel itself was great, we had a family room which was more like a mini apartment, no complaints, reception friendly, helpful and good English. We didn't take advantage of the Restaurant up the roadbut then being so central choice around and about was plentiful. The only (small) grip was that the TV had no English channels apart from MTV europe and the reception anyway was poor. Having said that we didn't go to Rome to watch telly !
This hotel is in an ideal position for all round access to the main sites in Rome with the Main Line Stations and the Metro both within walking distance.
The Colosseum & Spanish Steps are within easy walking distance. In fact we walked every where from here except the Vatican where we caught the metro.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke very good English. The rooms were quiet and comfortable Iand I would definitely stay here again.
Warning about the Robin Hood Bar along the Cavoir Road. When we went in we heard them mutter 'tourist' and ended up paying an extra 5 euros on 2 drinks! Not impressed....
