Hotel Re Di Roma

We has a very pleasent stay in this hotel for a period of two nights over 25th -27th Nov. Staff very friendly, have one internet access for free, breakfast is ok ...but no hot food.

We would recommend to people cos:

1) Is not expensive
2) location is only 4 stops from Temini and 200 meters walk from station exit
3) But can get to nearby (about 500 meters walk) which I think is reasonable..depends if you do walking or not
4) Room is clean and is comfy....not too big not too small..in reasonable size.
5) Restaurants are nearby....also traditional pizza to take away or eat in...very local feel which is really good too...
5) cos I went in winter....so before I went I was very worried that the room may not be warm enough....but in fact the room was very warm and we had two very good night sleep
6) Not many hotel do have sky...but they do...so you can watch English channel..i.e. BBC etc

Cannot recommend the Re di Roma highly enough

A really excellent hotel! We booked through lastminute.com but I did check the reviews here before making my final decision.

The hotel surpassed my expectations completely. It is classic modern with clean lines but also plenty of space. Our double bed was massive and extremely comfortable. We also had a balcony which went round two sides of the building so you could always find the sun. In-between seeing the sites (and Rome has a lot to offer) we spent quite a bit of time sitting out on the balcony watching the world go by.

You're outside the tourist area at Re di Roma but for me that adds to its charm. The street is a working Roman street full of locals and we witnessed many an interesting conversation between people on the street and residents leaning out of their fifth or sixth floor appartments! The hotel is only around 200 metres from the underground station and you can be in the centre of town in minutes.

We loved Rome and the hotel Re di Roma played a very important part in what turned out to be one of our best ever holidays.

Flat in Rome

by denzilson about Appartamento Piazza Re di Roma

Appartamento Piazza Re di Roma is a self catering apartment in central Rome. Stayed there in February for a long weekend.
Found their site through a 'google' search.
Stayed there with two other friends - very comfortable, spacious apartment. Very good location with excellent transport links.
Lots of sights within walking distance, others are only a handful of stops away on the subway. There's a station, Re di Roma, 30 seconds from the apartment.
Next to Via Appia shopping zone. Spent lots of money!

Oh my... just the perfection of tiramisu.
Ever crowded, it takes 3 € a portion. Two way to eat it: classic or fruit.

THE POPE

I booked this trip for my husband to celebrate his 40th birthday,it was a surprise present. We stayed at the hotel re di roma which i booked on an internet site after reading the reviews.I had no contact with the hotel prior to our trip, however everything ran like clockwork. The hotel was easy to find from the airport, train(leonardo express) and metro(line a re di roma stop).the hotel is approx 100yds behind you from the metro stop.We were greeted by friendly staff and were taken to our rooms immediately with a brief introduction about the hotel. Our room was basic, very clean and well furnished. The hotel is easily within walking distance to lots of the main attractions,we walked to the colosseo, trevi fountain, pantheon, roman forum, circo massimo, the piazza navona is a great place to eat and took the metro to the vatican.Breakfast at the hotel was basic although times were good.At the end of a busy day,the staff were always happy to pour you a drink.Rates at the hotel were excellent for our stay. Our trip was made perfect by seeing the pope in a ceremony at the san giovanni in laterano,10 mins walk from hotel as we were heading for supper. It was amazing.

Loved it!

Stayed at Hotel Re di Roma from May 12-16, 2008. The hotel was a bit far from the main tourist attractions but very well situated for the metro. We took a train from the airport to Termini which only cost 11 euro each and then the metro from Termini to Re di Roma which cost 1 euro each. A taxi would have cost us at least 50 euro. The metro station is very close to the hotel. Once you find your bearings, it pretty easy to get around. The hotel staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. We had a bit of a problem with noisy neighbours the first night. We told the staff and we had no other problems for the remainder of our stay. They recommended great restaurants in the vicinity. Bar Pompi had excellent desserts and perhaps even better gelato than San Crispino!! The breakfast is convenient as you don't have to go find a place to eat first thing. It is pretty basic but the croissants are delicious! Mariano (staff) gave us a great tip for getting back to the airport on our last day. The train station (Roma Tuscolana) is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel and it goes straight to Fiumicino. We paid 5.50 euro each!! He printed a map from Google and checked on the train times, as well. He was so nice and helpful. Excellent! You do need your luggage to be on wheels though! Otherwise, it would be a bit of a trek. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely stay there again if the opportunity arose to return to Roma!

A most enjoyable stay .... (just too short)

by TripAdvisor Member jlc732

We have just returned from an excellent short break in Rome where we had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Re di Roma. We booked via an internet website and had no prior contact with the hotel before our arrival. Although externally the hotel does not stand out you will not be disappointed once inside. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and had even been able to accommodate our special request of a room with a balcony. Checking in was quick and pain free and we were then guided to our room and given a personal tour of all the room's electrical gadgets etc. Our room was on the second floor and overlooked the main street. Room size is acceptable for a base from which to tour the city. The room was clean and tidy and well decorated. Hanging space is okay but you only get four coat hangers, so take more! There are no drawers in the room so we did have to use our case as storage - not the best option but we got by. The room has a free safe to store all your valuables so this was very helpful. The bathroom was a good size and had both a bath and shower, good water pressure for a very relaxing shower after those long walks around the city. Slept well without any unwanted noise from outside and excellent black out curtains. The mattrass in our room was hard, just the way I like it. The air conditioning was excellent, varialbe speeds and cooled the room very quickly and was reasonably quiet at the same time. The room was cleaned daily to a good standard. Breakfasts - the breakfast room was nicely decorated, with reasonably sized tables. Breakfast was obviously continental, consisting of cereals, yogurts, prunes if you like them, ciabatta rolls with salami/ham and cheese, croissants (warm - lovely) with jams/honey/chocolate spread and two types of fruit juices. Coffee (americano) is on tap but you only had to ask the staff and you could have expresso or capacino (very helpful). Nothing had the chance to get stale as only small amounts were put out at a time and frequently changed as they were used up. In all it was an excellent start to the day. As a base - some may wish to be right in the centre of the city but you have to be willing to pay the extra price. This hotel is situated within about 150 metres of the Piazza Re di Roma Metro Station, 2 minutes walk if that and then you can go anywhere on the metro for a very reasonable price. There was a great little bar here where you could get pizza, paying by the weight, very reasonable and very tasty! I would describe it as an excellent base to operate from. Evening meals - we asked at the reception for recommendations for restaurants and were given details of enough to visit a different one each night. All were within 10-15 minutes walking distance, and bearing in mind we didn't go out until about 8.30 to 9.00pm we felt safe walking in the local streets. Prices were reasonable but watch out for the service charge, expect to pay 3-4 euros a head or about 20% of the total bill. The hotel has a small bar and staff are again helpful, we used it one night at about 11pm on our return from a meal and they served us without any problems, prices weren't too bad either. The hotel also has a day room to meet up in the mornings and for use as on the evening if you decide to have a drink in. The staff even sorted us out with some glasses so we could have a bottle of wine on our balcony. Hotel staff sorted us out with a taxi from the hotel back to the airport for departure and this only cost 40 euros (Fuimicino), don't get ripped off by the flashy Mercedes Vito taxis! They wanted to charge four of us 80 euros to get from the airport to the hotel, dropped to 60 if we shared with a third couple. If I was going again I would contact the hotel in advance and ask them to arrange a taxi to pick us up from the hotel - no problems with communication, their English is excellent and I felt ignorant (again) for lacking in the foreign language skills. Would I want to go back to this hotel? Answer - without any hesitation at all. Infact I hope to. Would I recommend it to friends and family - without any hesitation. Book with confidence and enjoy Rome from a recommended hotel.

Superb hotel

by TripAdvisor Member Starmax

After reading reviews my wife and I booked this little hotel for our first wedding anniversary.
It is an absolute gem of a hotel, the rooms are really top rate, exceptionally clean and well maintained. Although the breakfast is basic (continental style) there is plenty of it and kept well stocked. Definitely request an espresso or capuccino rather than the filter coffee.
Good location to the metro (very efficient) which could get you into town within 10min, or the walk up to San Giovanni and then into town was very pleasant thus not essential to take the metro.
Overall thoroughly enjoyed our time here, staff were helpful and friendly and Rome is a fantastic city to visit.
Thank you all at Re di Roma

Nothing too much trouble

by TripAdvisor Member RoseEastSussex

Easy to find your way from Rome's main airport using public transport, with a Re di Roma metro station just 100 metres from the hotel. Hotel has not yet got a sign outside! It's opposite the garage, with a red entrance.
Hotel exceptionally clean and modern inside, being only recently completed. Staff pleasant and helpful, breakfasts brilliant, full blown continental.
No tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms as yet, but asked at the desk and tea was freshly made and delivered to our room!
Well located for visiting all the historical sights using metro and bus - make sure you buy metro/train/bus ticket combined for period of your stay.
Two reasonably priced restaurants close to hotel, just ask at the desk for directions.
We enjoyed our stay tremendously, and would certainly recommend this hotel.

Hi Glen,

The first one is very close to the vatican. the ottaviano stop is right up the road. No problems getting around from there. The 2nd one is further out but still by a metro stop. The Re. di Roma would be close. Here you will be just down the street from San Giovanni in Lateranno. The 3rd one is very close to the Piazza Navona. This one is not near a metro stop but you will be in the city center and close to most sites.

hi,

if I take the 3rd choice, I would not be using the underground METRO as much as the other 2?

Thanks
Glen

Re: location of these accommodations

just google it. then click on the map. reduce the scale by one or two notches. You will find the sign "M" to signify that it is a metro.
For eg. click on this: http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&q=Via+S.+Veniero,+78+Rome&fb=1&sa=X&oi=local_group&resnum=4&ct=image
(i guess it assumes firefox and all that, but you get the idea right?)
