More about Hotel Romanico Palace

Nice surprice!

by TripAdvisor Member idis

Hotel Romanico palace was very nice and clean and situation was good nearby many restaurants in Via Veneto. Rooms were small but clean and renovated. Bathroom was good. The rooftop terrace and the breakfast room were beautiful. I could go to this hotel again and I could recommend it to my friends.
The staff was friendly and helpful.

Just right

by TripAdvisor Member SS_Aussie

FOOD: good breakfast selection, excellent location for dining(rooftop)
STAFF: pleasant enough. Not that I expect it but their English was pretty good.
ROOMS: good. Clean and nicely decorated.
LOCATION: a little way from the main city sites (15 minute walk to Spanish Steps). There's not much directly around for food or shopping.

We had a nice stay in Rome. The hotel was perfect for our needs and was probably above average in quality for the cost.

overpriced

by TripAdvisor Member drjm01

overpriced for size of room, ok breakfast buffet but selection of fruit juices clearly made from diluting juice( personal bugbear but suppossed to be 4 star hotel). room really small. staff friendly but decor and music frankly bloody awful. not as near sights as described on own hotel website certainly not 500m from termini. plenty of other hotels in area. cannot recommend

A Gem

Hotel staff extremely helpful from the moment we arrived, giving complimentary drink on check in along with maps, details on how to get around Rome, tours, local buses, resturants that locals use. Nothing was too much trouble for them, yes the rooms are very small but we did'nt go to Rome to sit in a hotel bedroom. After a day sightseeing it was pleasant to sit on the roof top bar with a glass of wine watching the sun go down. There are plenty of resturants and shops on the Via Veneto just a few minutes walk from the hotel, as well as several on side streets where the pasta was the best i've ever tasted. The Westin is at the end of the road for those who like me look at maps trying to get their bearings before going away . A supermarket 2 blocks down the road towards Via Veneto on right hand side. Buses and metro run like clockwork there seems to be one every 5 mins? it took us 15 mins to get to the Vatican from the hotel. We used ATS for transfers from airport to hotel can't praise them highly enough it cost us £53 for return transfers and that was for two of us NOT each. The beds were very comfortable and the entire bedding changed each day and room left spotless, when i asked for extra pillows they arrived literally in 2 mins! i've stayed in several 5* hotels worldwide where i've found staff to be indifferent to their clients. Here we found nothing was too much trouble and the staff look upon you as one of the family. If we were to return to Rome we would stay here again without question. I personally don't buy into the 3*to 5* hotel concept if somewhere meets your requirements i think that's far more important.

Pleasantly Surprised

by TripAdvisor Member Lou94

Just got back from Rome after a 4 day break away for Valentines.
Hotel was very nice, room was spacious and nicely decorated.
Only moans would be the water from the shower all over the bathroom floor, some building work going on but not too disruptive, don't be late for breakfast, staff not too happy if you turn up late.
Rooms were clean, with safe and mini bar.
Apart from that, situated well for Via Veneto, to catch buses, or even to walk to the sites, like Trevi, Pantheone and even the Vatican.
Would definately stay there again.

believe the reviews!

I read the reviews first and they tie in with our experience of the hotel. It is not central to all sites, but we are in our 50's and found we could walk to 'everything' in a day! Would recommend allowing 2 days though. The best rule of thumb is to double the hotels distances, The hotel must have bought an existing hotel next door, the workmen are early risers and use the very slow lifts to transport building materials. The bedrooms are amazingly tiny, we managed a larger one by pointing out the bare wires in the bathroom...
It is true about the water running down between the walls, very loud. We found the breakfast ok, plenty of fruit, could ask for cooked but not sure if it was extra. The staff were ok; friendly, the front of desk a little patronizing, so need a firm attitude. I think the hotel should lower its prices, especially during this building period. There is no restaurant and the 'amazing American bar' is just a wrap round room, no big deal. Would go again if rooms were cheaper.

Too young for respect

by TripAdvisor Member JoannaEngland

The hotel looks lovely from the outside, first impressions were deffinatly good and we were glad to be greated by a happy face as our flights had been delayed so we were late to check in. However, we had paid extra for a dulex double room with queen size bed and so were unhappy when we got taken to what must be the smallest room in the hotel and instead of a queen size bed was two singles pushed together. The room also only had a small window which loked out onto a very busy and noisy main road. When we asked to be moved as we had paid for much more, we were told the hotel was fully booked and we had been given the last avaliable room as we were last to check in. They were very unforgiving and didn't do anything else to try and make are stay pleasant. Thankfully the breakfast room was incrediable being on the top floor, however i would have quickly given this up for a good room, that reflected what we had paid for.

Not great

by TripAdvisor Member Brunette123

On arrival we where told that they had had a leak and that they had no other rooms for us so would have to move us to another hotel. 5 minutes later they decided that they could find a room for us but not in the hotel we had paid for but for the hotel next door (definitely not a 4*). The two hotels are connected but to get from one to the other you have to walk through what i can only describe as a buiding site which did not look like it would be finished for a good 6 more months. There where builders and building materials thrown everywhere and walked all over the carpet.
We where shown to a fairly avridge size room, the bathroom was nice and the bath had a built in jacuzzi funtion which was a luxury after walking around Rome all day. The room had a tv (only one english channel, CNN) but you dont come to Rome to watch tv. The walls where paper thin. We could hear everyhing that was being said and done in the room next door, and this was very unpleasant at certain times. You can hear running water all night long. If you are a light sleeper then this really is not the place for you.
The rooftop terrace is beautiful, but unfortunately only used at breakfast. The bar, is vulgar, small and overpriced and very cold and noisy especially with the the builders surroundin it!
The hotel is a good 10 -15 min walk from the trevi fountain and is up hill. The location is ok, but don't stay here if you dont enjoy a bit of a treck home.
Try out one of the Open Top busses and a visit to the vatican on the last sunday of the month will give you free entrance to the museum and you may also see the pope at 12 o'clock.

Really Disappointed - A Complete Let Down

by TripAdvisor Member O&A

We booked this hotel "blind" via Last Minute.com and were incredibly disappointed when we got there. The write up made it sound as if it was virtually on top of the Spanish Steps, when in fact it was a good 15 minute walk to get there. On arrival we were told that we were going to be housed in their sister hotel at the back. As we were led through to the other hotel, it was obvious that standards were dropping. One of the reasons we had chosen it was because the offer boasted of breakfast on a rooftop terrace overlooking Rome. We were told that as we were staying in the rear hotel, we couldn't use this restaurant but would have to go to one on a lower floor. Only stubborn insistence on my part every morning ensured that we were able to use what we had booked up for. The first bedroom we were given was minute and we asked to move. We were told the hotel was full and there was no option. I went down to reception and politely insisted on a change, which eventually we got, but it was still really basic and cramped. The bathrooms only have showers and no bath which is a real shame. What was meant to be a romantic weekend for my husband and I ended as a damp squib. The hotel reception staff were surly and the part of the hotel we stayed in was decidely grubby. It was my husband's first visit to Rome and unfortunately it has not left a good impression. I go quite often and I was really sad that he had had such a mediocre experience. I certainly would not recommend this hotel to anyone,
