Well we know about getting what you pay for and this for Rome, out of season in August, was one of the less expensive options. That said, we always book well in advance and the same rooms were decidedly less budget nearer the time.
2 out of 5 maybe a little harsh then, the cleaners were trying hard and kept the slightly worn fabric very presentable. But problems with the phone not working were just not addressed by a rather offhand main front desk, other issues with the bathroom similarly problematic and I had to repair the hair drier myself!
2 from 5 maybe a little harshbut a pity that the man on recertion thinks he is above being helpful - the self deprecating humour and friendliness of cleaners and the handy man, who conceded "... Nothing in this hotel really works..!.." would serve them better.
If you really need to do cheap then it's not a total disaster - just be sure you get it damn cheap! We won't be staying again as a couple, I could 'slum it' here myself I suppose.........
Unique Quality: Good location for the seasoned Rome visitor ( our seventh visit in ten years) perhaps a little out of the way for first or second timers still finding their way from Spagna to Colosseo. We liked the location because it was OK for buses at Piaza Cavour, and right on the Tevere for the August nights in Castel Sant Angelo

Hello,
Iread an article about beers in Rome.There were 5 bars listed in the article. What is your own special place for having a beer in Rome?
There is a large annual beer festival going on here in Finland and for that reason there was this article with the information about the bars.I'm hopefully travelling to Rome later this year,and I will be with people who would like to have a special place for their beer.(I'm sure of it..)
I'd like to get some quality beer as a souvenir for my brother who has been working for decades with selling beer and wine.I'm only interested in information about small local breweries.

Hey,that aricle (last Thursda,Hesari) was all about the fact that Itlay isn't considered a typical beer country. And that's why they seem to be promoting Italian beer at BeerFestival.
My brother has promised to give me a list of wines I could get and he will tell me some details about wines in Lazio area (the place that has always produced wine for Rome.)
But not all wine is for him...:)

The only Italian beer I've drunk is called Peroni, but I did that here.

I know for sure there is a [little] good tradition of beer in Italy, I met also people who does it homemade.
Said that I add I'm sure there are much more then 5 'birrerie' in Rome, just have a look once there. Birreria is a place where you mainly or only drink beer form many places of the world.
Sure, there are not large beer festivals there, although there are many small ones anywhere during summer and you always find more Italians at Oktoberfest year by year.
Why beer is not so popular in Italy? maybe because it's not worth to spend money for beer when [already good] wine is cheaper!

btw I checked Argentina, beside Quilmes and Brahma (this is Brazilian) are found anywhere, people there prefere wine, maybe for the same reason? [already good] wine is cheaper then beer....

I'd suggest heading over to Campo de' Fiori at night, as there are plenty of bars/pubs to goto around the area, and is usually packed with people having drinks after night fall.
Are there brewpubs in Campo di Fiori?
Drunken Ship which is a disco-pub, La Vineria Reggio (winery) is there since 40 years ago, maybe more.. for sure there also a bar in a corner open till late at night.

Not sure if this a favourite thing, but I did enjoy walking across the bridges and taking pictures of the other bridges. Ok... so not too original... but couldn't remember what else to say about this picture. Couldn't tell you the name of it, or the exact location... just that it was not too far from the Vatican and St Peter's.
The School of Athens, by Raphael is my favorite painting. The large fresco hangs in the Stanza della Segnatura in the Vatican. As you walk through the museum, you approach Raphael's Rooms just before entering the Sistine Chapel.
In the painting, Raphael portrays some of the great thinkers and philosophers of all-time. The central figures are Plato on the left and Aristotle on the right and Raphael himself is pictured on the right side facing the viewer.
If you are looking or wishing this is the place to be..Some of the most expensive boutiques are located in this famous street.
You can find Gucci,Ferragamo famous for his scarfs and shoes,Prada, Armani...
Using the metro is easy. With just a few precautions, this can be a great time and foot saver for anyone. (see my metro tip for some precautions)..
You should get a map of the metro system to have a general knowledge of the stops. There are only two lines in the whole system but they cover a lot of territory. If you have any kind of guidebook, they will usually have a route of the metro system. If you don't have a guidebook, stop by the tourist information kiosk when you get to Rome. These maps are very helpful for cutting down travel time. They will show you where the various metro stops are and which line to take.
Inside the metro stations there are maps also. Be sure to read these maps and get on the correct train. They go in both directions, so you might end up going away from your target if you are not careful. Just read the overhead signs and the wall maps and you'll be fine.
Buy your ticket from a magazine vendor or from inside the staion. Make sure you validate it before you get on the train. As you go thru the turnstile, slip your ticket in the slot. It will spit out on the other side. That's all there is to it. If you buy an individual ticket it is good for 70 minutes or one train ride. (One train ride includes transfers as long as you don't go back out thru the turnstiles) Once you get off the train you need to buy another ticket. They do sell multi-day tickets if you will use the metro a lot.
When you exit the train, look at the signs. These will tell you which road you will exit onto. Most of the time, you have a choice which road to go onto and won't have to cross the street if you take the correct staircase up to the street level. (Don't get me started on crossing the street).
