Business/tourist hotel on Via Aurelia

This large business/tourist hotel is on the outskirts of Rome, not too far from the airport and about 15 minutes from the historic center of Rome when traffic is light - just try to avoid rush hour. It's fully airconditioned, with a pool, meeting facilities and restaurant. A shuttle runs regularly between the hotel and Piazza Cavour, which is very convenient to either the Vatican or heading toward the Spanish Steps and the rest of Rome's many sights. When we were there in June 2006, the cost was 180 euros for a double room.

The rooms have safes, hair dryers, mini bars, tv, phone etc and all are ensuite. Pets are welcomed.

The hotel is good for what it offers, but if you want to be in easy walking distance to the various sights, and not have to rely on shuttles or taxis, I'd recommend moving closer to town. You don't necessarily have to go up in price to do so.

Has anybody stayed in Jolly Hotel Midas?

by Lou1semc

Hi guys!
I have already booked my stay over new year in the Jolly Hotel Midas which is in Via Aurelia. I have done further research and am really worried about how far away we are from the city centre of Rome. I dont want to spend a fortune in taxi's everyday. Can anybody reassure me or have any other recommendations for equally cheap hotels in Rome's Centre?

Thanks, Louise.xx

Hi Louise,
what is equally cheap for you? How much are you paying for your hotel? And do you only want to stay in hotels or also apartments?
I'll be staying in apartment close to Campo di Fiori next week for instance and its 110 for the apt.
How many people are you?

Maybe with a little more info I can help you.

Louise,
Jolly Hotel Midas is very far from the City Center and only the Vatican is a little bit closer (10 min. by taxi depending on the traffic).Let me know your budget and I will be very happy to assist you but be aware that Christmas and New Year's time are considered high season and every thing tends to be more expensive.I am in the tourism business and I know Rome very well.
Regards,
Antonio www.conciergeinrome.com
