Christmas in Rome

by bos777

two questions:
1 - do the trains run on Christmas, looking to go from Rome to Florence on the 25th?

2 - looking for a nice hotel for family with 3 x kids in rome.

Re: Christmas in Rome

hi - yes, they run every day but it is too far away for me to check the times they run - i think the schedules only show trains for the next 30 days

but i can guarantee there will be trains on the 25th - perhaps not as many as a weekday but plenty to choose from

ps if you have got kids why don't you think of an apartment?

reading Vt tips I have seen many people have found apartments right in the middle of rome with excellent facilities (like kitchens and laundries) for no more than hotels

Each year the schedules are updated in late October/early November with the winter trains. Now you can buy tickets until 12 December.
An apartment is a good idea considering that many restaurants could be closed the evening of Christmas Eve.

I cannot stress enough to bring good shoes. My shoes are pretty comfortable but they are slip ons and i got blisters and even hurt my knee. Be sure they are secure on your feet and have good soles.

Shopping At Rome's Biggest Shopping Malls...

by Krystynn about Women's Clothing

These shopping malls are worth checking out:

- Centro Commerciale La Romanina
Address: Via Enrico Ferri, Roma, 00169

Touted as the biggest and most crowded shopping mall in Rome, this place sells everything! If you run out of cash, not to worry. There are banks and ATM machines where you can quickly withdraw your Euros. Hungry? Not to worry again. There are many cafes and restaurants to make you go dizzy ;-)

- Cinecittà Due
Address: Via Vincenzo Lamaro, Roma, 00173

Another huge shopping mall which sells everything!

Walking and getting around Rome.

by rachel_sun

Getting around Rome is basically on foot as most sights are very close. The streets are mainly clogged with traffic and driving would be frightening.Renting a motor bike would be ok as long as you are very careful. When walking,,,be very careful when you cross a road as traffic will not stop.I found walking around Rome the nicest and easiest way to see things and i was surprised just now close most sights were.

Bruschetteria Nonna Papera

Bruschetteria Nonna Papera
The owner and the people working there are very friendly, speak a little English and the atmosphere is great. PICTURE: the very friendly owner of the restaurant with a friend of us. You should really try the specialty of the restaurant: a bruschetta, which is a steamed, giant slice of bread with olive oil, tomatoes, garlic, and whatever you can imagine on it. All around the restaurant , you can see pictures of all different kinds, from very hot to 'du chef'. We asked the 'patron' of the restaurant what he could recommend and he brought us 3 different bruschettas. They were all great !
