No frills but nice anyway!
I stayed at the Marco Polo for 5 nights in october and had a really nice stay. The staff make a big difference to any holiday at any hotel, and here Gianni the Manager and his staff Diego and Lorenzo, not forgetting our night porter Salvatore, went out of their way for us a number of times. We had three rooms in 5 nights, but that wasnt their fault at all - noisy Spanish people were the problem for us (wow can those people party!) I wasnt surprised at the basic accommodation for the price - I have stayed at similar hotels in London and this one is not luxury but a good base for all the major sights and sounds!
Unique Quality: The hotel doesnt have any truly outstanding features - the lift works, staff are knowledgeable, speak good english, were always smiling, polite and friendly to us. Hugely helpful when I got my purse pinched on the No 64 Bus to the Vatican on my last day there! Housekeeping is prompt, breakfast is included and is just a simple continental. Being just steps away from the Railway and Bus Stations you can easily see why the location makes up for this. Theres a lovely restaurant on the corner of the street with great food and good prices.
