Rome metro

by manuna

At one of the forums came across that metro in Rome is closed after 9 p.m. Is it true?

Re: Rome metro

by ffffffra

Hi

the Metro Linea B opens at 5.30 and closes at 11:30 p.m. On Friday and Saturday it closes at 1.30 a.m.

the Metro Linea A opens at 5.30 and closes at 10 p.m. From the 1st of August it will change and will be like Metro Linea B.

Ciao
Francesca

Thanks!!! I knew it couldn't be true.

Re: Rome metro

by ffffffra

Hi again
well...it was true till few months ago because of some works they have been doing...
Anyway ,consider that there is also a bus that follow the same route/stops as the metro in case you miss the last one and need to go back home :-)
Enjoy!

Travel Tips for Rome

You can walk by the Coliseum...

by Patricialuv

You can walk by the Coliseum at any time. You can get there virtually through any transportation (bus, train, motorcycle, walking, you name it).

Just know that during the summertime, tourists like you and me swarm in and it gets a bit crowded. Try to go on the off season if you can.

Statues and Building decorations

by Webboy

One thing about Rome that seems to be everywhere is statues.

Most buildings have some sortof artwork on them, and everyone looks more spectacular than the last. it is a tribute to the lavish life style the Romans used to enjoy!

The picture for example is of an iron statue of a winged warrior on a carragie being pulled by 4 large horses. For all of you who would like to go and see it, it is on the top of Palazzio di Giustizia, which is just beside Castel Sant' Angelo.

Keep you eyes open for all of these statues, they are just as interesting as the buildings themselves. Some of them even have you thinking.............how exactly did they get that up there!

PUBS AND BARS AROUND PIAZZA NAVONA

by STEFZAMM about VARIOUS

There are several pubs and bars situated around Piazza Navona, take any of the side streets around Piazza Navona and check out the Italian typical bars and many other Irish Pubs too. Casual or Casual Smart.

Great Wines in the Eternal City

by carlitoab about Vineria Reggio

I was only there briefly but I tried a few amazing Italian wines - the selection is vast and prices are fair. Also a great atmosphere. I don't remember the name but it was a slightly sweet carbonated red wine.

Get Amazed at this ancient splendour

by vickss

One can get the history of the Colloseo anywhere on the net so lemme give you a small glimpse of what is arguably the most magnificent tourist point in Rome and for many people in entire Italy..
It is basically an amphitheatre where ancient Roman Empire used to organise events and deadly games such as gladiator and animal fights with three levels of seatings with an amazing architecture to insure against any stampede in case of emergency exit. The deadly games where stopped after the Christian takeover. Parts of the colloseum was cannibalised (I guess the marbles) to be used in the Vatican/St Peters Square
