The School of Athens, by Raphael is my favorite painting. The large fresco hangs in the Stanza della Segnatura in the Vatican. As you walk through the museum, you approach Raphael's Rooms just before entering the Sistine Chapel. In the painting, Raphael portrays some of the great thinkers and philosophers of all-time. The central figures are Plato on the left and Aristotle on the right and Raphael himself is pictured on the right side facing the viewer.
