visit the FORI IMPERIALI...
by GUYON
visit the FORI IMPERIALI close to the Colosseo.
To see : on the Via dei Fori Imperiali, the extension of the Roman Empire presented through several maps. Impressive.
See other photograph in travelogue. An idea : climb the hill which is on the left of the photograph (but off the image) to have a look on the Colosseo and the FORI.
Vatican

It doesn't matter if catholic or not, Vatican is a must see when visiting Rome. I was here the very first evening we came to Rome and the whole St. Peter Square was overcrowded by the both locals and tourists. The ambient looks great during night because of carefuly designed lights but not only. Visitors and tourists stood in a groups or strolling around, admiring the architecture and expessing their joy for being here. It was the most quiet crowd and very dignified.
Campo dei Fiori
by mariocibelli about Vineria Reggio
Great place to sit outside and be a part of or just watch the action in Campo dei Fiori until the wee hours of the morning.
Drinks are very resonably priced and they have (obviously from the name) a huge selection of wines and grappas etc. available. None.
Worth the Wait
by nbeard about Cul de Sac
This is an enoteca, or wine bar, near Piazza Navona. If you go before 8 or so, you won't have to wait, but you will probably eat with other tourists. If you wait to eat at 9 or so, the place will be packed with Italians. It is a wine bar, with the most extensive selection of wines pretty much anywhere, but they also serve delicious food! The staff is very helpful with selecting wines, if you don't know much about them like me. The menu is seasonal, so it always changes, but there are always local favorites, and a great selection of meats and cheeses to build your own tasting plate. The onion soup is amazing, as is all of their soup; also try the pate. The place is small, but also has outside seating in nice weather. The prices are reasonable, with a glass of wine costing anywhere from 3-8 euro. The waitstaff tend to be hot young Italian guys, so there's that, too! And after dinner, it is lovely to take a stroll in nearby Piazza Navona. Their soups are my favorite--always made with fresh ingredients that are in season.
