I booked this hotel thru British Airways Flight and Nights deals before checking its location. It is 5 mins walk from Termini Station, Rome and was renovated in 2004. Termini area is busy, colourful and bustling, but not particularly dangerous but take a little care anyway. Reception, breakfast room, bar & stairway have marbled flooring. Staff were reasonably friendly, helpful and spoke good English. I saw some pics of beds crammed into rooms in this hotel on the internet, but was pleasantly surprised by my Triple Room (Rm.205). It had modern decor with a comfy dble bed and 1 single plus a marble bathroom. There was no view, just next doors roof, but this was not much of a problem for me. Air-con was OK most of the time, maybe a little 'weak'? Rooms were made up everyday to a good standard. You could pre-order your breakfast items on a card from your room, but on going down they had no record of my request, so we just helped ourselves to croissants, cheese, cold meats, cereal, pre-packed toast, etc. You have to ask for coffee or hot water and milk for tea, and the staff were not always eager to take the order, but generally were quite pleasant. We waited for about 10 mins one morning!. For the price we paid (app 100Euro/night in Aug 06), and if you don't mind being away from the centre of town, I'd recommend this hotel, particularly with the rail/bus/metro station being conveniently close. Trattoria GIOVANNI, across street from Morgana by pinotcanoz We stayed in this hotel in October 2005. Between Santa Maria Maggiore and Stazione Termini, this hotel was last renovated in 2001 and is completely up-to-date. The hotel was great value. We paid an extra Euro20 per night for a double room upgrade to a larger and better insulated room, I would definately recommend to upgrade. The room was above average size by Roma standards and very quiet considering how close to the train station the hotel is located. It was decorated with antiques. The marble bathroom was very nice and had a full bathtub and shower. Our room was spotless and housekeeping did a great job keeping it that way. The breakfast was very good with an assortment of rolls, breads, pastries, cheeses, cereals, juices and coffee. The entire staff was very friendly and worked hard to ensure we had a nice stay. The hotel is located near the main train and bus station, which is great for getting around the city. No need to ever take a taxi, all busses and trains are a few short blocks away. However the area can be a little seedy, especially after 9PM. We never felt threatened or unsafe but its just not as pretty as some of the other areas. Also a big plus was that the hotel offered a free one way transfer to the airport if you book direcly with them. This really saved time after a tiring flight. The limo driver was a fountain of knowledge and really halped us get quickly orientated. We found a great family run restaurant directly across the street from the hotel. Sergio was our waiter at the Trattoria GIOVANNI. 4 course dinner with a good bottle of wine ran Euro30 each. The extensive menu meant we returned several tiimes. All things considered the Morgana is great hotel.
Walking distance to train station, busses and car rentals.
