Streets of Rome
Everywhere you walk you will find a beautiful fountain, statue, monument, church, etc.
By the way, the water at the fountains is really good, feel free to drink!! Much better than my faucet water here in Venice, CA :-)

Any suggestions of reasonably priced restaurants that aren't the usual tourist traps in the area of the Termini ?
Not sure about about not being tourist traps however when I was there in 2009, there were loads of reasonably priced pizza\pasta places towards the Termini end of Via Nazionale.
Can't remember any names however we tried a few and they were worth their price.
We're there last week and found 2 nice restaurants, Pasta Love and La Strega, near Hotel Caravaggio, where we stayed. Some years ago we ate in Galina Bianca, but I don't know if it's working.

Bill, just a stretch up the road is the famous Via Veneto. There are numerous outdoor cafes with the white sail cloth above the tables. There is plenty of high end dining but there are some reasonable places too. But it is well worth the stroll. The whole avenue is filled with dining options.
Cheers!
Thanks for this ... we will definitely take a stroll up Via Veneto .. I've read a lot about this famous street

There are plenty of restaurants/eateries near and around Termini. A decent set menu would normally cost you around Euro12-15. We saw a Chinese Resto near Hotel Caravaggio (I forgot the name but there are big chinese characters on their sign board). Set menu is around Euro 6,50 to 9,00.
Have fun in Rome.
Thanks for your reply
If you are looking for a restaurant very close to Termini, but way out of any tourists, walk straight west Via Daniele Manin about 4 blocks, you are now on the east side of the fantastic Basilica (church) Santa Maria Maggiore and on your right hand you have the Priests (and vicar) favourite China-restaurant:
La Giunca
Via Daniele Manin 81
I was there 2 weeks ago, the only language spoken was italian, and of course chinese by the two young chefs ;-)
PS:
The distance from main entrance in Termini to La Giunca is 435,77 meters (on my gps)....
Thanks for this .. I'll give it a try

I wasn't sure to put this tip. throughout Rome there can be found water fountains where you can drink clear fresh water [and a guarantee that you will return to Rome]. It is very handy to know about these fountains as they are free and handy for filling uo your own water bottle.
The Forum is huge,i was only here an hour, you could easily spend all day here. There is so much to see. Here i am enjoying my quick visit to the Forum.Ive never seen so many ruins close together. This place has to be seen just to rearalise just how big it is.
The best way to get into Rome from Fiumicino Airport is by the Leonardo Express. It costs 9.50euros, and runs every 30 mins (currently at 7 and 37 mins past the hour) with no mid-journey stops. It gets you to Termini in about 35 mins.
After you've picked up your luggage, follow the signs to Stazione FS/Railway Station. You'll have to go through an underpass to get there. Buy a ticket "Per Termini" at the FS ticket counter or from one of the machines in the station (if you're getting tickets for more than one person, don't be surprised if you only get one ticket - it'll say "2 Adulti" (or however many people it's for) somewhere on it). Don't forget to validate your ticket by inserting it in the validation machine before you enter the train.
Another local small restaurant, again filled with tourists as it is close to many hotels.
This was the first restaurant we had time to eat at our own pace, and were not hurried by the next course coming.....
The food was very good and reasonable priced.
