    Built in the year 1400, the 87-room Hotel Nazionale a Montecitorio is housed in a 16th century palace and is located in the historic center of Rome.

    This is the corporate hotel of the current European financial institution I'm with. And this is where I would stay when I'm in Rome (from 2001 onwards).

    This hotel is within walking distance to our main banking branch in Rome... including the Pantheon and Spanish Steps.

  • Directions: If you are arriving from the Leonardo da Vinci Airport, expect to pay €40-€60 for your cab fare to the hotel. From Ciampino Airport, you pay approx €60-€65 for cab fare. The indicative price I've listed is the latest (Aug 2006).

    • The Nationale is impressive without being intinidaing and offers a fantastic location from which to explore Rome. It is within easy walking distance of the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain etc. and more importantly you dont have to wander far in the evening to find a decent restaurant.
    The furthest trip was to the Vatican/St Peters but we took a taxi to save the 45min walk and make sure we arrived early to beat the queues.
