Our only negative here was trying to get a warm shower. We found that one must wake and shower EARLY (no later than 5:30 am) to get warm water. I'm not sure if this is true for all European hotels or just this one.
Amazing staff. Despite their worries we'd get hopelessly lost, they handed us a map of Rome along with several hotel business cards (to give to the police or taxi driver just in case we got lost) and told us to have a wonderful time exploring the city. When we arrived back on our own, they were unable to hide the shock on their faces. This is a small hotel and the staff keep good track of their guests. When we'd arrive back in the evenings they'd ask where we'd been, what we thought, and then suggest other places to explore for the next day. They didn't become upset (in front of us) when our power adaptor and hair dryer blew the electricity to the entire hotel for three hours on our first night there, nor were they ruffled when we needed a plumber for our room on the second day. Fortunately we didn't have any more hotel mishaps.
There's a grocery store about half a block away. We had them clear out our fridge in the room and then stocked up on bottled water and sodas - so much cheaper to get them at the grocery store!!!
