Feel special at the Ponte Sisto
by TripAdvisor Member Cheryl230
Our first days in Italy were spent at the Ponte Sisto. Everything is gorgeous even though the street it is on may put you off at first, but don't let it. Beautiful accommodations. OUr room had a small terrace with flowers that looked down to a gorgeous outdoor cafe. It is very quiet here so you can get a good night's rest. YOu will need it walking around Rome. If you walk over the Ponte Sisto Bridge( and you should )you will be in the Travestere section of Rome. Very romantic with lots of quaint Italian restaurants (reminded me of the North End in Boston) It always felt good to get back to our hotel after sightseeing. Another plus, there is a great place for Gelato (ice cream) across the street! We had a complimentary gift the first night we were there which was very impressive. NOt sure if it was from the hotel or our travel agent. Breakfast is gorgeous.

for some reason i didn't feel comfortable on the other side of the Tiber river at this time of day, when it was starting to get dark

While trying to follow the detailed map I had of Rome, I still ended up in a street away from where I originally wanted to walk to. Best thing about getting lost, though, is that we end up seeing sights that are originally not in the list of our "must sees". This pretty pic was taken from Ponte Sisto. Should I have turned the other way and snapped another picture, I could have had a picture of Isola Tiberina which is a little island on the river that, if I'm not mistaken because I read it somewhere, was a place where they isolated the sick when a plague hit Rome centuries ago.
Via Giulia and Michelangelo's arch
by Frisbeeace
Via Giulia is a Renaissance street named after Pope Julius II who appointed Bramante to build it and line it with elegant palaces in the early 16th century. This street runs parallel with the Tiber River connecting the Vatican to central Rome. It is an elegant residential area with cobblestoned streets and antique shops.
On your way to the Ponte Sisto you'll find the Fontana del Mascherone and an arch covered with vines. The arch is all that remains of Michelangelo's project to connect Palazzo Farnese with the Villa Farnesina across the river in Trastevere.
Very beautiful hotel

We stayed at Hotel Ponte Sisto for three nights in June, and were very satisfied with it. The rooms were spacious and clean, the breakfasts were very typical of Italy, but filling. The garden in the center was also spectacular and a very relaxing place to sit after a long day. The employees at the front desk spoke just enough English and were polite, but did not go much beyond that. The location was good, but required quite a bit of walking without the use of public transportation. Trastevere was a 3 minute walk across the bridge and contained many good dinner restaurants. Overall, Ponte Sisto was a very good place to stay while in Rome.
*Our connecting double rooms came with an unexpected balcony with a view!
A great hotel in a superb location

I stayed at the Ponte Sisto with father and uncle in route to my sister's wedding in Florence. Our rooms were spotless, and quite large by European standards. They were also silent and had excellent a/c - quiet and comfortable for a perfect night's sleep. The amenities were wonderful - my uncle's room had a small balcony and I had a tiny terrace with a table overlooking the garden, where we had breakfast. The staff was helpful, and hotel's location made it convenient to pretty much everything we wanted to see.
I would definitely stay at Ponte Sisto again.
A Gem in old section of Rome

Stayed 3 nights before taking a cruise. Courteous and efficient staff.
Off an alley entrance but elegant inside. One feels at home at the
Ponte Sisto. Lovely courtyard where you can enjoy breakfast.
Room was slightly small but more than adequate and very clean. Very beautiful marble througout the bathroom.
Hi-Tech air-conditioning system that allows you, also, to just run the fan at all times. As a light sleeper, the "white noise" was a big plus. Very sound-proofed modern windows that make the rooms exceptionally
quiet. We opted for courtyard view and were rewarded with outstanding
view of St. Peter's Dome in the background and the hotel's lovely
terrace laden with flowers and plants. The Ponte Sisto is our choice when
we return to Rome.
Hotel & Staff Fantastic!!!!!

Just spent 5 days in Rome with my Mum. Booked the Ponte Sisto based on the reviews from this website and I have to say was not disappointed. Location is perfect for walking to the various attractions around the city, The hotel has 2 wonderful outdoor gardens, one just by reception and the other on the roof which gives wonderful skyline views of Rome. Can’t wait to book my return trip!
What a treat

I have just returned home after a 3 night stay at this lovely hotel. Everything was perfect. My only tiny gripe (and this is purely because I'm trying to think of one) would be the lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We had to order coffees via room service and at 6 euros a go, they aren't cheap.
However, the hotel staff were so helpful and friendly, the room lovely and clean, great power shower in the bathroom and gorgeous outdoor areas (shame it rained most of the time!)
All in all, my stay at the Ponte Sisto really made the holiday special and I would most definitely recommend it to all.
