Tourist hotel

An open letter to Bill, who took the time to advise me on things to do and places to eat near the Princess Hotel. This hotel is in the Western suburbs of Rome. Spent 2 nights here near the end of Sept. as part of a tour. 4*'s may be stretching it a bit. Everything was about average- reasonably clean and spacious. This was an inexpensive tour, so can't complain too much. Was mainly used for sleeping on a hard mattress with harder pillows. Buffet breakfast was good, with adequate variety. Tried the hotel restaurant for lunch. Sticker shock !! $18 U S for a tuna sandwich and small Coke. Once up on Via Aurelia, the neighborhood is pretty seedy. Lots of trash and open garbage dumpsters. Found a good restaurant called Il Postiglione on Via Aurelia. About 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Ate there twice. Their chocolate profiteroles are "to die for". Cornelia metro stop is about 15 minute walk. Other wise a bus or taxi to downtown. When I was there, the metro was on a "daily strike". Thanks again Bill.

If you have a car..it's ok!

This is the last hotel you would stay with cosmos tour. It’s 15 minutes walking distance from the CORNELIA metro station (red line). The area is not that pretty and since you MUST take the train back home otherwise the taxi will cost you one eye!, The walk back to the hotel was a little scary…thank goodness I was with my husband.

The hotel is really nice but I wouldn’t stay here since I am the kind of person who only needs a hotel to sleep and hopefully is in a nice and close location to the heart of the city!
