Budget hotels in Rome
Ciao a tutti! My son and I will be landing in Rome at the end of April, are more interested in spending our money on sights rather than hotel ammenities (i.e. 6 hours/night in a clean bed in a safe environment is all we're after, nothing more.) Can anyone give a personal recommendation on an economical hotel that relatively central to the usual points of interest in Rome? Mille grazie. -Tom

what kind of price are you looking at? we used wotif.com (course it was November) and got a very reasonable hotel near Porta Maggiore for about 70 euro a night called Principe di Piemonte.

I always use www.venere.com and pay about 70/80 euros per night with breakfast(you won't find much for less). The hotel reviews are honest (written by people who've stayed in the hotels...they email you a questionnaire a couple of weeks afterwards), so it's worth having a look even if you don't use it to book.
I find the Termini area perfectly ok (single female traveller) and very central for arriving/departing as well as exploring.
