woolly hat, muffler, gloves, umbrella ...
Why is the Winter also very cold if Rome is much more south than Germany?!?
One day it was terrible cold and it was raining. I didn't know if it was a hallucination but it was also sleet !!! Also the wind is very very chilly!
Never imagined that I would spent money for a woolly hat in Rome :-)) I'm not sure if I'm the only one who takes countless pictures. During this short stay I used 7 films ...
Be sure to have enough rolls with you. I always have the impression that films are more expensive than at home
Giant Sunday market Trastevere
by Paisleypaul about Sunday market
All the clothes, fruit, drinks, refreshments, knock offs you expect ata a market. This one is extremely busy - can take way more than an hour just to cover the length. Two - hookey obviously - CDs at for Eu5.00, new shirts Eu5 and Eu10. I got six of the former for Eu27 by calling the guy's bluff and walking away but it was hard work ! Shirts and clothes, whatever takes your fancy. An iced beer ?
A Spanish break
by Tijavi about Tapa Loca
After being filled with delicious Italian food for more than two weeks, I thought something different would re-energize my palate. The Spanish tapas house Tapa Loca - the lone 'foreign' restaurant among the warren of restaurants along Via de Tor Millina near Piazza Navona seemed perfect.
I ordered their eponymous medley of six tapas - and boy, was it humongous! I was filled up to my scalp and still couldn't finish the whole thing - not that the tapas were not good, especially the beef stew which reminded me of the Philippines' most famous beef stew, caldereta. The chorizos en cerveza (Spanish sausage in beer) was equally gratifying. These were all washed down with cabernet sauvignon.
Tempio del Vino!
by MM212 about Al Bric
A stone's throw away from Campo de' Fiori, this charming looking restaurant calls itself a "temple of wine". Not undeservedly as it boasts an excellent collection of wines, both from France and from Italy, that go nicely with its well executed menu of traditional and contemporary Italian cuisine. Al Bric seems to have received plenty of great press, but I stumbled upon it by chance at lunchtime while walking away from Campo de' Fiori, having never heard of it. The cosy look and delicious smell emanating from its kitchen led me in and it was no disappointment! The restaurant offers wine and cheese tastings every evening just before dinnertime.
