Porta Pia by night by Sarita76

The famous "breach of Porta Pia" took place on September 20 1870 when the Italian Bersaglieri (light infantry) entered Rome through this gate.
The French Empire had just collapsed and left the Pope without allies as Napoleon III was protecting the State of the Church.
