We started the day early, and there was hardly anyone when we reached there.
So we walked through the door, and went to every part of the huge church and on our way out, there was a little sign that showed the way to the top of the church.
We decided to get there, and took a little lift up and managed to see at close proximity of the most detailed painting on the dome. After that we saw another sign pointing upwards, so we decided to take a look.
It was an extremely narrow flight of windy stairs and we sort of hunch to get the way up. All the way up I was sighing like mad, telling myself what torture I am going through.
When we finally reached the exit, it was right on top of the dome of the church,
and you an get an extremely nice view of Rome from there. Breathtaking!!!
We sat there for an hour absorbing the beauty of the Roman Empire before we
decided to walk all the way down.
On another day, we went to the Vatican and headed for the musuem as well as the
chapel. You need an entire day there. It is rather time consuming, so start the day early. We walked around 8 hours there... but it is really worth it.
