The best experience ever!

Please don't let non-appreciative people keep you from booking at this hotel, otherwise you'll miss out from a great experience! My husband, our kids (ages 11 and 18) stayed for 7 days at this hotel and we enjoyed every single day. We have traveled to many places in the United States but this was our first experience at a hotel in Europe and we loved it! We were a bit concerned before getting here because most people talk poorly about the hotels, service and lack of amenities in Europe, however this place was great in every way.
We booked a quadruple, which includes a queen bed, a twin bed, a sofa sleeper, table and two chairs and desk. The set up was fun because it allowed for my family to share our experiences at the end of every day of exploring. The room is spacious, clean and modern. The airconditiong can be set according to your preference. The best part was the personnel, we had the pleasure to meet Kevin, Alice and Jean, we saw a couple of other gentleman at the front desk whom were very friendly and helpful as well but unfortunately didn’t get their names. Their service is superb! They welcomed us every day with a smile and always wondering if they can do more for us. The breakfast was simple but fun and yes, it was the same every day but I don’t think there is a hotel anywhere that will change the menu every day for their customers.
Thank you to all the personnel at Residenza Borghese, from front desk to cleaning and breakfast crew for making our experience in Rome one that we will never forget!

Group Accommodation

by LONDONSP

Hello

We are a group of 6-8 adult travellers coming to Rome in early November and looking for a place to stay. Can anyone recommend someone pretty central, safe and clean. We normally stay in hotels but wouldn't mind trying an apartment or B&B

Thank you

Check out www.myhome.it if you're interested in renting out an apartment in Rome. I rented mine from there and I stayed at this apartment right off of the Via Nazionale street, which is pretty safe and very lively (the street I stayed at was quiet but Via Nazionale was a happening street). All the nice shops are on that street.

Travel Tips for Rome

Funny Lazy People

by OttoMarzo

We Romans are strange. We are very funny, kind, gentle, and much more... Just don't ask too much. We are a bit spoiled... I mean, we ruled a big part of the world for centuries, so we don't like to be in a rush, we like to sleep and we are kinda lazy. Don't be surprised to see Romans drive their cars to go buy milk or cigarettes half a mile away from home! We won't run, we'll just walk. You would loose to many sights and energies running!

Do visit the Domus Aurea...

by anne_h

Do visit the Domus Aurea (Nero's Golden House). This was a huge mansion the crazy emperor built to his own glory--it covered the Celian hill and overlooked a lake (now the site of the Colosseum). Covered in frescoes and gold decoration, the emperor would entertain and receive visitors there. After Nero's death, the emperor Vespasian was so disgusted with the building that he literally had it covered up with dirt. After decades of digging, archeologists still haven't uncovered it all. Unfortunately the frescoes are pretty much ruined and none of the gold is left...but the sheer size of the place will give you a sense of its grandeur. It's also just fun and kind of eerie to walk around this underground place and try to imagine it as an airy building. It's a good idea to reserve tickets ahead (you either go with a guide or get an audioguide), as it has become pretty popular recently.

The Termini

by littlebush

Most routes evolve around the trmini, romes central station. Everything i visited was within walking distance, even the Vatican, but if you do walk, be prepared to be very tired by the end of the day!

Hostaria Da Nerone

by krossbow about Hostaria Da Nerone

This was one of the most comfortable places we ate. The staff made us feel quite relaxed and at home. It's VERY affordable, dinner (with wine) for two ~$50.00. It is a good idea to make reservations as it is small and very popular with the gay population.

The Vatican

by EGitan

The Vatican museum was amazing. The sistine chapel itself was incredible, but the art will take your breath away. What more can I say. It was the highlight of our trip. The line to get in can be long so go early.
