Has anyone toured with Presto Tours?

by DancerDiamonds

I am going to Rome very soon and I need some advice on who to book tours with. Presto seems to be the 1 company with the best guides, small groups and the ability to avoid the queues at the Vatican. I would like to hear from some people who have toured with them before i make my final choice.

I agree with the above.

Actually, I don't think you need a tour. You can avoid the queue for the Vatican museum by buying tickets in advance (try www.tickitaly.com) and a good guidebook will tell you more than enough to navigate and enjoy this most walkable of cities. Then you could just have a tour/audioguide for specifics: the Colosseum, for example.

But if you really prefer a fully organised tour (all of them, by the way, can [and do] avoid queues, simply by booking in advance) then I hope another VT-er can make specific recommendations for you.

Hello,

You can also avoid the lines at the vatican by booking a tour online at vatican.va. If you choose not to do a tour then you can go in the afternoon when the line is usually short. I have heard of Presto and they get mixed reviews. I have not used them as I have done the official vatican tour through the museum itself. There are lots of tour companies online and I suggest you check them out to find one that is exactly what you want. Check out Presto, viator, enjoyrome and odyssey-tours. These are the ones I have heard about. You can find them all online.

When we were in Rome, we tried the Viator tour. It was quite nice and I think the tickets to the Vatican museum were already booked in advance. It was quite a beautiful tour actually.

Anyway, I don't know about Presto tours. But I agree with the other posts. Every says they are the "no. 1" company. So I think I would trust user opinions. I guess try searching for presto tour reviews on google.

hope this helps!

We used Viator as well, but only because it was free for booking two nights at our hotel. If it wasn't included in the price we would have done everything on our own. Try and find out how much time you will spend at the Vatican with this tour. We had just under an hour, which obviously is not nearly enough time, so we went back on our own the next day. There are many different packages as well, so you should take that into consideration when comparing touring companies. Ours included Trevi, Pantheon, Piazza Navonna and the Vatican.

Try a few Gelatis

by lashr1999

While walking along the streets in the summer, a smart bet is to stop off for Gelati. I tried several shops and flavors on my trip. Gelati literally means "things that are frozen". Italian Gelati is smoother and have more exotic flavors than regular ice cream. Once you try it you are guaranteed to go back for more;)

Rustic charm and affordable price

by gasca about Ditirambo

It was quite difficult to find it, but it was worth it. It was recommended on some guides and we just wanted to try, although average price was above our budget.

We ate a big salad, a delicious pasta (not simply macaroni or spaghetti) for 20 euros each person. I tried "Bread pasta with pesto sauce", mmm delicious..

Take a walk in Rome

by wheellw

Rome is a great walking city. It is so much fun to wander through the city streets (I use this term literally as the streets are often just exagerrated sidewalks). Get a good map, mark out a few must see destinations, and then walk. Although we weren't always sure exactly where we were, we would usually stumble across some landmark to set us right. And, it always seemed as though ended up at the Trevi Fountain. It wasn't as though we set out to do it. It was kind of like the twilight zone. However, there we were. Which was great because we knew where to go from there. Finding the little restaurants hidden in piazzas or a gelato shop was amazing. The architecture is, of course, intrigueing. I remember once we stumbled across a church. When we went in there was some major art in there. We never would have found it if we had actually been looking for it. It was a wonderful adventure walking the streets of the inner city of Rome.
