More about Rome Marriott Park Hotel
A magnificent hotel in the outskirts of Rome
by TripAdvisor Member copperoo
We were originally looking for a hotel downtown Rome, but weren't sure what we would get or where we might get stuck, so we found the Marriott Rome Park Hotel as our best choice, although we knew it was not downtown. Since we always stay at Marriott hotels in USA, we knew we couldn't go wrong with this hotel. The hotel opened only a few months ago. and so it is impecable; the rooms were so comfortable and fancy; and having two luxurious bathrooms in each room was really a plus, not to mention how beautiful the marble counter tops and walls in the bathrooms were. The lobby is really beautiful with spectacular painted murals of ancient Rome. The front desk and concierge staff were knowledgable and very helpful. The hotel shuttle service was timely and really convenient and complimentary. We took the shuttle in the morning to a central piazza in Rome, did our tourism and took the shuttle back at night without any problems. The shuttle takes about 20 minutes to/from Piazza Cavour, the driver was very friendly. This hotel had a great pool that we enjoyed with our two kids (unfortunately the pool does not open till late, which would have been nice after a long, hot, summer day of touring Rome). The breakfast buffet was delicious and another meal we had, as well.
We stayed two nights (three days) during the month of July 2007, and we highly recommend this hotel to anyone, especially family with kids. It was wonderful.
Beautiful Convention Style Hotel in the Middle of Nowhere

Recently my family and I were involuntarily bumped from our return Alitalia flights home to the states and left to fend for ourselves in terms of obtaining two additional nights of accomodations in the Rome area. Having just spent 3 nights at the St. George Roma in Rome(see review) and remaining in Rome under less than desirable circumstances, we were looking for accomodations last minute close to the airport, accessible to the city and at a price below the inflated rates we had just paid in the city. Upon contacting the Marriott, it was a pleasure to hear that accomodations were available at more reasonable rates(although by no means cheap). The hotel is located approximately half way between the downtown and airport in an office park adjacent to Toyota's Italian headquarters. The hotel is quite large, clean and new with spacious well appointed rooms. Moreover, the beds were very comfortable after having spent the previous 9 nights on extremely hard mattresses. The hotel has large meeting facilities and obviously caters to business groups, although there were some tourists staying as guests as well as at least one tour group. While the hotel has a complimentary shuttle bus downtown near the vatican and about a 20-30 minute walk from the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain, it must be booked early as the seats are reserved quickly and it is often difficult to get a convenient time slot. If you are unable to take the shuttle, you will need to be prepared to take a taxi at a rate of approximately 40 euros which at today's USD conversion rate is somewhere in the neighborhood of $50.00-$53.00. The major detraction of the property is its location. In order to get to a restaurant, you must take a 15-20 minute taxi ride at a cost of approximately 20 euros each way. There is not one food establishment in walking distance. Accordingly, I would suggest that you book your room with breakfast included as it is overpriced if purchased ala carte. The breakfast buffet was adequate, although the staff was not very enthusiastic about refilling dishes when the items filling them were eaten. Overall, if you are looking for a less expensive accomodation outside of Rome with the intent of taking the shuttle and spending the entire day in the city, this hotel offers an alternative. However, if you want to truly experience Rome, make a reservation in the heart of Rome.
Mediocure hotel - arrogant staff

We used our Marriott points for 2 of the 3 nights of our stay. From the moment we checked in the hotel staff treated us as though we were second class citizens. When I asked if breakfast was included in our stay the front desk clerk stated "Of course not, you are using points".
Then on the second day...After returning from a great day of sightseeing in Rome we came back to the room to find that our hotel safe was open and some of our belongings were missing.
The good news is that our passports were still in the safe. The bad news was that there were several items missing and though not of extreme value it was the way the hotel staff chose to address our issue that was most concerning.
We contacted the front desk and then Manager on duty to alert her to the situation however no one seemed to think that it was a big deal and the only reponse we received was from the Manager on duty who said to "write your complaint on a piece of paper and give it to the front desk". We were blown away.
Needless to say....we checked out the next day and moved to the Hilton (where we recieved great customer service).

Our family stayed at the Rome Park Marriott for six nights and had two terrific suites! Each had an expansive terrace overlooking the recently completed swimming pool. The accommodations were amazing, by any standard, and the four of us thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our rooms. We had walk-in closets, marble adorned bathrooms (2 per suite), large flat-screened televisions, and luxurious bedding.
Having checked in advance, we knew the hotel was outside the city, but the complimentary shuttle served everyone well. We also had a car which was helpful in exploring nearby Roman neighborhoods, like Aurelia.
The breakfast buffet was fantastic every morning with a tremendous variety of choices. We were also very pleased with the quality and promptness of room service.
Most of all, we found the hotel staff to be courteous, professional and wonderful. Every encounter we had with the front desk, the shuttle, the restaurant, the spa -- was with very friendly and polite people. They could not have been better! Many thanks!!!
not 5 star loaction or service!

Not up to normal 5 star marriott standards at all.Cut off by ugly fencing from the unwelcoming surroundings overlooking major motorways in/out of Rome. A long shuttle into Rome and a long walk to sights in searing summer heat.
Impersonal restaurant with limited menu, bar in middle of lobby not cosy at all. The outside pool has no service except pool man who cleans up and has bottles of water in a fridge. The wind is so strong sometimes that they take down the scruffy parasols so they dont blow over.Too hot to sit there without one!You have to pay for indoor pool, say no more.
Architectural monstrosity with poor finish in rooms, bathroom door broke with my son inside!(They did fix this). Stayed in many Marriotts world wide but this did not compare, sorry Marriott, wouldnt recommend.
Disappointing

Isolated location in a business park out of town but it has a good shuttle bus service. Rooms good size and quality.
On the downside, there was a general lack of attention to detail- missing bottle opener from room, missing in-room dining menu, in-room dining (when we got the menu) was completely cold. We did mention this when asked about our experience at check-out but only the cost of the tea x 2 was removed from the bill (€8).
Hotel is more of a conference centre than tourist or getaway hotel.
I would not recomend due to location and lack of atmosphere in hotel.
Not overally impressed

I stayed at this hotel for three nighs. The hotel itself was lovely, however the service we received was not very impressive, especially in the restaurant. I expected more as it was a Marriott Hotel. We also had issues with security in our room and the staff were not very
helpful when we notified them of the problem. i certainly would not go back unless i was sure that something had been done about the service.
Very good stay at the Marriott
by TripAdvisor Member Dan-George
We stayed at the Marriott for 7 nights in an executive level room (level 6 with a beautiful view over the outdoor swimming pool). The hotel and the facilities are very good and new (only opened in 2006).Altough it appears more suitable to the business traveller it has loads on offer for the leisure traveller (including families). The shuttle into Rome was always on time and very comfortable (must book in advance with the Reception). We found the room very quiet and relaxing - much preferable to the City Centre polution and noise. One single problem - our rate included access to the Executive Club which was not yet opened - however after a bit of a hard negotiation one of the managers agreed to compensate by offering free items from the mini bar.Would definately return.

Rome Marriott Park Hotel and Rome
by NewMike
Ok. Here is the situation I am in. I have 3 days in June and I am going back and forth between Rome and Lisbon. It is my first time outside of the U.S. Planned I have Dublin, Barcelona and then Lisbon or Rome. Since I have never been, I am looking for night life, a relaxed feel, hip hop music. I am a hotel employee so I get a discount at the Rome Marriott. Is this a good location?

It depends on which Rome Marriott you are thinking of...the Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora is on the Via Veneto (right in the center of town), the Rome Marriott Park Hotel is out in the countryside (although inside the ringroad - barely), and the Courtyard Rome Airport is out at the airport, which is way the heck outta town.
I am the worst person to ask about nightlife, being more interested in Roman ruins (ruined Romans?), but of the three, only the Via Veneto location is in the city center...

I inspected the Rome Marriott Park Hotel when it was not finished yet, and it's really in the middle of nowhere. If you want to explore the nightlife of Rome when staying there you should be prepared to spend a good deal in taxis.
