We stayed 4 nights at the Royal Home hotel last summer. It was very reasonably priced for a room (we had 4 people), and the room was lovely. The breakfast was included, and it was larger than most Italian breakfasts. We really liked this hotel.

The only negative things I can think of are that some people might not like the location, and some might be bothered by the noise of the nearby subway station. The subway is very close to the hotel, which we liked alot. But you can hear the rumble of the trains from your room. However, since the subway only runs until 11pm or so at night (starting again around 7am), it didn't bother us. Also, if you are staying out very late at night, you won't be able to use the subway since it doesn't run all night, and a taxi may be hard to find. The location is a little bit on the outskirts, we needed the subway for everything except nearby restaurants. But we prefer this, since we want to be apart from the most touristy areas. This is a real roman neighborhood.
Have a great time!
Unique Quality: Close to the San Paulo church. A few steps from the metro! Sunny breakfast room, with made-to-order espresso drink included in the room rate.
Directions: Walk from the San Paulo (line B) metro station in the direction of San Paulo church. The hotel is on the right-hand side of the street, across from the church grounds, tucked in behind a rather plain driveway.
