Look at and

You'll find the vast majority of hostels in Europe listed on these sites.

Hostel prices are higher in the season, of course.

Re: cheap hostel in Rome?

We stayed at the Beehive apartments in Rome and they were great. They cost E30 fer night each but they also have dorm rooms as well in another building for E20 to E25 per night. They are very well run and the dorms are just a couple of blocks to the right of the Termini. The apartments( of which there are 3 ) are to the left. Look on their website and they will have everything on there. We stayed at the Acacia Apartment for 8 nights and it was great. There were 2 of us in a triple room, E30 per night each, a shared kitchenette and bathroom and a terrific spot to see Rome from. They also have a service "cross pollinate" and can help you with accommodation in Florence and Venice as well though I have not used them for this. Have fun in Rome, it is amazing.

Travel Tips for Rome

Visit the Spanish Steps

by seagoingJLW

Visit the Spanish Steps. Try to see it from the bottom. That's where everybody gets great pictures. Unfortunately, we were at the top and there was no way in the World that I was about to climb any more steps. So-- here you have an unusual picture of the Spanish Steps--looking down.

Countryside near via Appia Antica

by extrajoce

The countryside around via Appia Antica is surprising, as one is still in the relative center of Rome, but can spot such groups of sheep. So for those with just that extra bit of time in Rome, a visit here will make for a good change.

The Campo di Fiori

by vuuduugrrl about The Campo di Fiori

A open air market by day and a jumping street party at night. Lots of resturants, bars, and gelaterias (ice cream shops). When Rome won the soccer championship, there was a large party with fireworks and people chatting. Come as you are! As long as you are dressed in something!

Quality Seafood Restaurant

by Picarello about Corsetti il Galione

If you want excellent quality food, service and surroundings, then try this restaurant. From the moment you step into the restaurant, the staff make you feel special and welcome. The inviting array of fresh seafood on display whets your appetite as soon as you enter. The menu is extensive in this Italian ristorante, from antipasti, pasta, meat and the most exquisitely prepared fish. Expect to wait at least 20 minutes for the chef to prepare a gastronomic bowl of Zuppa di Pesce. Magic! The Zuppa di Pesce will astound you. Every kind of fish and crustacean is included in this robust dish. Even sharing the bowl with someone will leave you no room for anything else. Just add garlic ciabbata croutons and a crisp bottle of white wine.

a nice evening stroll

by renatob

if you are up for an evening stroll including a good meal head for the jewish ghetto.I love this part of the city, starting from portico d ottavia you can have first a nice meal on any of the restaurants next to the Portico.carciofi alla giudia is a must(artichokes deeply fried, cooked in a , i believe, jewish tradition).then walk behind portico and...get lost.several small squares and fountains will be your companion and if you are not tired keep on walking to the isola tiberina , down to the banks of tevere where you can admire the roman ponte rotto(broken bridge).after that another must is the grattachecca stop on the way to trastevere, just at the end of the tiberina bridge.cross lungotevere, be careful with that.., and head towards trastevere and santamaria in trastevere and if you want to have a drink stop at the bar before the square or there is one pub just behind the church.if you are still hungry behind santa maria on vicolo del cinque is the place to go for crepes.just after the crepes shop turn right a lovely alley will bring you back to santa maria.
