My family will be in Rome for 2 nights in July. There will be 3 adults and 2 children..ages 1 and 3. Any suggestions for a hotel would be much appreciated. We would like to be near all the main attractions (of course). Thanks

But don't worry: Italians really do love children so your two will have a wonderful time anyway! :-)

After burning down Rome in 64 AD the Roman emporer Nero built a gigantic and very expensive new home within a very short time. Since Nero was already killed in 68 and his successors wanted to obliterate his memory Trajan filled it up and built his baths above it. In the late 15th century it was discovered and famous artists of this time like Raffael studied the murals. Therefore it became an important source of inspiration for the mannerism movement.
TIP: Do the guided tour!
I would not recommend the Overnight train between Rome to Venice. It is a long journey of up to 9 hours and you don't always get a good sleep. Recently my brother and I took the eurostar service from Rome to Venice during the day and it was relaxing and quick. With this service you must reserve a seat and the time goes very quickly. For example, the 06:50 train from Rome Termini to Stazione Santa Lucia in Venezia (Venice) takes 4 hours 27 minutes. See trenitalia.it for more details.
They usually carry a variety of sandwich, cake, juice, water and coffee -- more than adequate for pranzo. I think that I only bought water from this one, but as you can see there are a few people around who are partaking of what they offer.
In a city of fountains, Trevi Fountain stands out above the rest. Legend says that if you throw 2 coins over your shoulder into the fountain, you will come back to Rome someday. If you throw three, you are supposed to fall in love in Rome. Having already accomplished the latter, Beth and I each threw 2 coins over our shoulder.
