Taking the train from Fiumicino Airport to Central Station Roma Termini

by nsfumms

My wife and I will be visiting Rome in June and we were thinking about taking the train from the airport to our hotel near the Central Station Roma Termini. First of all, is this possible? If so, can anybody give us instructions or advice on the easiest way to do this? Thank you for any suggestions.

Yes you can, and its easy (although maybe a bit sweaty in the summer).

Have a look at the transportation tip on my Rome page

I hope I have this link correct. Otherwise do a keyword search for rome airport train or similar and see the VT tips

Leonardo Express train is the easiest way - for 11 euros straight to Termini in 31 minutes. Runs every 30 minutes, check the exact schedule here:

I really, really could not be easier.

1. Follow the signs in the airport to the trains (bit of a walk, but there are travelators etc).

2. Buy a ticket from the booth at the end of the platform: you'll be taking the Leonardo Express (11 euros one-way). It leaves at 05 and 35 minutes past the hour.

3. Validate your ticket in the yellow machine on the platform.

4. Get on and sit down.

5. Get off at Termini (where the train terminates).

6. Walk to your hotel.

There are cheaper, stopping trais but they don't go to Termini. You can't miss the Leonardo Expres, or the appropriate ticket booth!

Travel Tips for Rome

Enshrined on Every Corner

by mrclay2000

Public fountains lie all over the city in Rome, and just like other cities in Europe, there are mementoes, plaques, and markers detailing the famous personages who lived in the neighborhood, a poet who took apartments nearby, or a painter who stubbed his toe on the underlying cobblestones. All the neat things about Europe and particularly Rome are not always the soaring public edifices or the expansive ruins, but the little things that decorate countless street corners.

La Grattachecca - Shaved Ice

by Rhondaj

Absolutely the ticket on a hot Roman day. We came across this busy stand called SORA MIRELLA just after crossing the Tiber Island, on the Trastevere side. We had been pounding the pavement all morning sightseeing the ghetto region and Tiber island. This yummy treat in a shady oasis was just what was needed.
Most of the ice flavors were fruit based: banana, strawberry, cherry, lime, etc.

Rome to Sorrento

by vicgov1

Getting from Rome to Sorrento is no real problem. Take a train to Naples (Napoli). Check trenitalia.it for rates/times (~2hrs, approx 25€/person). In Napoli you have to change to Circumvesuviana train - the platform is also in the central station, just follow the signs. This trains brings you directly to Sorrento (~1hr, approx 10€).
Sorrento is a wonderful place as a staging point for Amalfi, Naples, Salerno.
Careful in Naples!!

Try the local!!!! Don't miss it!

We found this restaurant on a tourist guide...
and we discovered a really nice place!
People are friendly and the food is very good! Try "Tippa alla Romana" or "Spaghetti alla carbonara"! You will surely love them!
And Pizza is also very very good!

Seeing the Colosseum with all the other tourists

by SPW

The Colosseum has to be seen, at least from the outside. It is a magnificent ruin, the arches are so graceful and the size imposing.
The tourist trappings, however, tend to detract from the experience but make for fascinating people watching.
