Good budget accomodation in Rome near Termini

by gauravm03 about HOTEL DES ARTISTES

I had read horror stories about budget hotels in Rome but had read good reviews about this place, so booked here. All the reviews were correct, this is a truely nice place to stay.

The room was in a different building than the reception so you have to go up and down a couple of times while checkin in and checkin out. They also had rooms in their min building but they were not available.

The room was very nicely designed and had a TV, minibar and a decent sized bathroom.

The breakfast was typical continental fare and reasonable as it was included in the room price

We paid 116 euros for two nights in Jan 2007 so this is quite cheap

The location is about 10 mins walk from termini in a residential area so a bit away from the noisy termini but still within reach to catch a train out of rome. There is a metro stop about 5 mins walk away, dont remember which one though.

I would stay here again if I travel on budget Near Termini but still on a quite road

Good value for money

Near a tram stop

Nice room

Termini hotel shuttle

by Gianni12

The Termini station website, under Hotel Reservations, indicates the availability of a shuttle for disabled persons and seniors. Can anyone confirm that?

I would think if their website says they offer a shuttle, they probably do. Perhaps you should call the hotel directly and ask them about all your concerns.

Lussemburgo? or other Termini hotels

by tintin2000

Any recommending Lussemburgo Hotel?
Would a hotel near Termini is much more convenient?
Any great Termini hotel w/ a budget price?

Thanks.

Sorry I don't know the Lussemburgo. I stayed recently (end of Jan.) at the Ariston Hotel for a great price -- 80 euros for a double at a four star. It is located even closer to the main entrance of the train station than the Lussemburgo, and is also a few blocks closer to all the sights. Everything about the Ariston is fine - though the shower stalls are very small (about 20 inches square, or 51 centimeters). You can book it on www.venere.com, though, of course, the price may be different depending on when you are going.

I stayed 4 nights at the Lussemburgo last year and it is fine, small family run place about 15 minutes walk from Termini but buses trams metro (and a supermarket) all nearby - I booked via hostelworld.com, it is also on venere.com

New Year In Rome

by Belfastbelle

I'm thinking of going to Rome for a few days over the new year can anyone recommend a decent hotel close to the centre of things

Hi

I don't know about availability but we were recently in Rome and stayed at Hotel Gea which was excellent and centrally located (about a 5 minute walk from Termini Station).

The contact details for them are:
Via Nazionale 243
00184 Roma
Tel: 064884996
www.geahotel.it

Alternately try www.venere.com which list a whole range of hotels by location. This is the link to the hotel which also includes guests comments:

http://en.venere.com/hotels_rome/repubblica_termini/hotel_gea_di_vulcano.html

Enjoy your trip there!!

Travel Tips for Rome

Like there wasnt already too...

by Michael_D

Like there wasnt already too much to see in ROME barely three blocks west of my fav Castle Sant' Angelo, near the very heart of ROME and the hearts of the entire populous of Italy is the VATICAN which we all know is a totally sepate country in itself. Crowning the end of St Peters Square is ST PETERS BASILICA the 2nd largest Cathedral in the world(next to a knock off on the Ivory Coast of all places)It's an absolute Holy (must) See!(ok all you Catholics out there..I heard the groan) There has been a church here since the 4th century, the year Christianity was declared the official religion of the Roman Empire. For a more detailed description see my page on the VATICAN.

They don't take orders from nobody,,

by mariocibelli about Da Pallaro

Have been coming here for who knows how long. Really fun place, but you must go along with the shenanigans of the owners who are characters. The better half of the owner/chef will come and sit at your table, drink your wine, pour out her heart and lambaste whoever the current fashionable left-wing politician that might be dining in the restaurant that night. You do not order, they just start bringin food. Very good Roman dishes. Not fancy at all, but the clientele can be - they are all masochists and like the treatment here.

Coliseum (outside)

by phred1910

Before entering into the coliseum, walk around to get a visual of how big it was. Imagine the ancient citizens filing in, just as we do today for a football game - the only difference being - the participants were often killed...
