Book early - because it's good
Unique Quality: “pretty darn perfect”
I really enjoyed my stay at the Beehive, very very clean, nice size room with a sink , the bed was comfy and I loved the ceiling fan, it cooled the room nicely, the staff here are very helpful with any questions you may have, there is a wonderful cafe downstairs too, good meals with excellent prices and a Happy Hour. (also eggs for breakfast )
I also loved the patio area, great place to sit with the coffee in the morning, you do have to share bathrooms and shower but it was never a problem, extremely neat and clean, never encountered a line either, the price is great, location is very very easy from Termini, I felt safe here walking, it's a great place to stay at while in Rome.

Stay away form the apartments
Stayed at the apartments. the hostel istelf was very nice but the apartments were nasty! In a bad area, no lighting on the street and looked dangerous. If you must stay at the beehive, use the regular hostel. But beware of the front counter people, very rude!
Unique Quality: The bedbugs were very nice, never had the pleasure of coming in contact with them any other place.

An Oasis in Rome
I stayed in the dorm room (22 euro/night) in March 2007. It was very clean, and quiet (not counting the street noise, which wasn't too bad). The beds were comfy, the rooms and bathrooms were spotless. The other guests were a mixed lot in age and nationality (mostly sightseers) but all were respectful of the quiet hours. I've heard the area described as "gritty" but as a single female traveler I always felt safe. I'd recommend this to anyone going to Rome except party animals.
Unique Quality: There is a free internet connection (often occupied). There is also free wireless if you brought your laptop. The cafe serves great food for reasonable prices. The map and guidebook given were helpful. The Beehive is a short walk from Termini, which is where the two subway lines intersect, so it's easy to get everywhere. Don't let the "organic" or "artsy" labels put you off if that's not your thing, this is a great hotel/hostel. Free soap and shampoo in the bathrooms, which doesn't seem like much but after staying at two more hostels on the trip - yes, it is.

Bee-Hive or Bee-Square (yes, this title is lame)
The loveliest budget place I've ever been to!
Exquisite design; warm, housy atmosphere; quiet surroundings; sunny, small garden with some lazy cats; friendly staff (providing their own mini-Rome guidebook & map) and prices that won't force you to spend your last night in Termini station... Make your reservation well in advance!

Funky, Groovy place
Unique Quality: Wow! What a setup...by far the hippist place we have stayed at! The room we had was large, well decorated and nicely furnished.
A printed guidebook was in the room with tips on where to eat, what to see, etc was a godsend.
Below in a basement there was a cafe that served up a scrumptous breaky with toast and coffee, ceral and other US style food available. All were very reasonably priced.
Free internet access and a handy location to Rome Termini.
It get's a little noisy at night, but all-in-all - great.

Friendly and clean hostel
The beehive is a fantastic hostel, 5 minutes walk away from the central station of Rome. The staff were always friendly, and were at the front desk 24 hours a day. The bathrooms were new and clean, as well as the bedrooms. They also give you a very handy Rome guide with restaurant recommendations that are really worth eating at.
Overall a fantastic hostel experience, you would be asking yourself why you would spend money on a hotel.

Rome's Best Hostel
A few years ago two friends of mine and I stayed at "The Beehive" in Rome for about 3 days. The staff there was extremely friendly, helpful, and accomodating.
The Beehive was very clean and quite comfy in terms of how many persons they could accomodate. The nights we were staying, there were other travelers from all over the world and all of us tended to get together in the evenings, share wine toegether, and talk about our experiences for the day. Everyone had a great time together!
I would definitely reccomend this Hostel.

Cheap and Funky!
The Beehive is a little oasis in the not so pretty area near the main train station in Rome.
It has private rooms and dorm rooms, all with shared facilities and is run by a very friendly American couple and their helpful staff.
It is located only a couple of minutes walk from the station, close to the metro and buses, and 20-30mins walk from all the major attractions.
Unique Quality: We were really impressed with The Beehive. It is clean and modern with really funky furniture.
We stayed in a spacious private room, and were happy with the facilities.
There is a nice outdoor area for relaxing and the resident cats are friendly.
There is also a share kitchen and free internet.
All in all a great, budget place to stay in Rome.
