Third time in Rome*

by galitha

Hi,
I'm planning to come to Rome the third time in my life - the first 2 were in 1999 and 2001 (not long time in Rome's time... old city and all).

Anyway, I'm looking for exciting things besides the "must" locations, which I already saw.

Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

***one more thing: are there taxis from Termini to the city around 22:00?

* Yes, I went to Fontana de Trevi and it worked!

Any catacombs you have not already visited (they are all fascinating):

Take a proper long walk (or bike ride) down the Via Appia:

My favorite thing to do in Rome is to rent a scooter. It is so special to drive down those tiny alleys or to pass by the Coliseum at night. There are many places to rent. Below are a few. Have fun!

Travel Tips for Rome

be in the crowd which is...

by GUYON

be in the crowd which is permanently on this narrow place. By day, By night. I always see a lot of people at the Trevi Fountain. Put a coin of money in the Fountain and make a wish. You are in Rome : miracles can occure.

Bus and Boat Tours

by arv1

Costs 23 Euros for a 48hour pass.
Time starts as soon as you step on the bus.
Only available for purchse at some places (eg hotel reservations desk at the airport).

For 4 active adults, it is not worth it, as you can walk anywhere and everywhere in Rome.

Hard to find the bus stops

If you are here at summer

by Turska about Estate Romana

There´s open air restaurants, handigraft sellers, and some shops selling their things here also.Food is more expensive tha at Trastevere restaurants, but you can find cheap beer, drinks and wine,if you just want to sit here and watch the people. There is also boats cruising at nighttime at Tevere(Tiber),but because of the high banks of Tevere, you don´t see as much as we tought. If you anyway deside to go,I suggest to try to pick a seat upstairs,at downstairs of the ship we saw allmost nothing. Anything goes!

Pizza a taglio (pizza by the slice) / bakery

by UKbound04 about Forno Renella Bakery

Pizza slices sold by weight. need only point and smile at what you want. good for taking over to the nearby fountain steps of the lovely piazza (in front of the church of s. maria) to eat and people watch. The delicous freshly baked bread is unlike anything i've experienced before.

Thiefs at Trevi Fountain!

by sarah125

So you think that throwing a coin into the Trevi Fountain will ensure your return to beautiful Rome? No it only ensures that Petty Thieves (such as those pictured) can fish out your coins when the police change shifts........and they did so in front of hundreds of confused tourists!

SO MY ADVICE- THROW YOUR COIN IN AS FAR AS POSSIBLE- SO THESE PETTY INDIVIDUALS CAN'T FISH OUT YOUR COIN. (Coins generally go to charity and to continue to maintain the beautiful fountain- so thee guys are the lowest of the low!)
