Rome to Orbetello

by ropeslady

Is there a train to Orbetello from Rome? What time does it run?

Re: Rome to Orbetello

There is a service from Rome Termini station to Orbetello taking about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Travel Tips for Rome

My greatest memory was seeing...

by Randall_Burt

My greatest memory was seeing the Vadican. I am not Chatholic but was interested to see it. It was unreal. It was a whole city. I walked around inside. They are true to their religion. The first day I could see it and started walking. It seemed so close but yet so far. As it got dark I returned to my motel. I got an early start the next morning and found a quicker way to get there.

Table Fee

by keeweechic

You will find that all bars and restaurants will charge a fee to just sit down in their premises. Apparently this is the equivalent to a tip service. If this happens, then don’t feel expected to tip on top of this. Bars are free to stand at though.

The Gruesome Twosome and their shop

by challenger about PROFONDO ROSSO

The Profondo Rosso shop is owned by Dario ("Suspiria") Argento and Luigi ("Star Crash") Cozzi, two Italian directors of wonderfully lurid - and often ludicrous - Eurotrash movies. In actual fact, the shop is named after one of Argento's most successful movies. Argento nowadays is still busy filming, so the actual running of the shop is left to Cozzi who can often be found in it himself. Heis the friendliest guy you're ever going to meet and still a huge Sci-Fi/Horror Fan himself.

The store is inspired by the English "Forbidden Planet" chain and sells a good bunch of Italian horror and thriller movies, books and magazines, T-Shirts and other collectibles. Most of these are in Italian - and from their own Profondo Rosso publishing house -, but there are also some items in English.

For a meagre E3.00 you can also visit Dario Argento's Museum of Horrors in the atmospheric underground vaults. In it you will find various original props from their own movies and from those of other Italian directors.

If you're into that kind of stuff, you are bound to get a great kick out of it!

Airports - Ciampino to/from Rome

by vysnaite

Ok, there are two main airports. Ciampino airport is a little bit out the town, but there's a bus leaving at least once in an hour to the center of Rome (right to the main Termini station from where you can take all the metro lines and busses). The bus stands in front of the airport, the ticket you can buy inside the airport. it costs about 6 euros, if my memory isn't cheating on me. It's also not a regular bus ticket that you'd be buying for other buses in Rome, so ask the ticket exacly for that bus.

Wanting to come back from Rome to Ciampino imagine that you go out the Termini station, you are facing the bus station, bus to Ciampino does not stand in the main bus station. go towards right, pass the street, bus to Ciampino stops there, the tickets you can buy in a hotel next to that bus stop.

Romantic Dinner Under the Stars

by TRimer about Ristorante Clemente alla Maddalena

Wonderful food, wine, outside setting and music. The lovely piazza in which we dined al fresco is built around a small church, Santa Maria Maddalena, and her oval portrait on an opposite street corner was visible from my seat.
