Hotel Victoria Roma

I would highly recommend this hotel. It was beautiful, very clean and the staff was friendly and always helpful. It has a lovely outdoor bar/restaurant on the roof which was a great place to relax after our hectic days of sightseeing. We never had a chance to eat at the Victoria, but I'm sure the food is great there. All in all a really, really nice place to stay when in Rome.

Via Veneto gem

I usually travel ala cheap, and this hotel's rates can be higher than I normally like to spend, but they are in the average range for better hotels in Rome. However, we got a great deal booking it at the kiosk in Termini station, and they often offer special rates directly online. The hotel is located on the northern end of Via Veneto, just bordering the big wall that lines Corso D' Italia. It is not exactly centrally located, but it is still in a nice, very quiet, area and is really great if you want to be based near the piazza di Spagna or the Vatican, but would rather be closer to Termini. The rooms are small but lush for the price range. The bathroom is an oaisis after spending days walking all over Roma.....I still have the great smelling blue shampoo as a memento in my bathroom at home!....but it was a great tub for soaking tired legs and comfy bed for resting tired bodies! The lobby is fantastic...marble busts that look like they belong in a museum, beautiful paintings, just amazing atmosphere. The breakfast caters to Western tourists, so you will be able to have more than a crossant and cappucino before heading out. It was one of the best stays I've ever had.

Unique Quality: Rooftop garden tarrace overlooks the beautiful giant trees in Villa Borghese park.

More about Victoria

A mixed opinion

We stayed several nights in this hotel in winter when there are plenty of rooms available, and found our room clean and the desk staff mostly helpful. The breakfast buffet was really good and we found the restaurant served good food at night when we used it once. The location suited us as we love to have coffee in the nearby Via Veneto and the stores there pander to tourists by selling upmarket silk ties, scarves and handbags at reasonable prices. Disappointments were that staff were unable to provide helpful, accurate information about nearby restaurants, and also refused to negotiate a similar price for the room when we asked to return for another night's stay a week later after a trip to Florence and Venice. When we therefore went to a nearby internet cafe and booked that extra night at the lower rate, they looked annoyed that we had managed to thus secure the same room rate as before. Also, they appeared disbelieving that we had managed to book the room again at the old rate. This treatment made us feel rather uncomfortable. The desk staff also provided only one brochure for Rome tours.

Very Nice Hotel

by A TripAdvisor Member

My husband and i just returned from a 9 day 8 night Rome, Italy trip for our 30th wedding anniversary.
The Victoria Hotel was very very nice, looked just like the pictures in every way. We even peeked into other rooms to see the differences. Just like the pictures. The bathroom, spotless, room spotless, never heard a noise from any other room. We had a balcony. Good location, nice restaurants in the area. If we were ever to return to ROME we would not hesitate to stay there.
I do not recommend the restaurant "Domino"...that is off the Via Veneto..a man will 'usher' you in from the Via Veneto and the cover charge is 5 euro per person and the food was not that great and service at the Domino restaurant was poor.

A decent stay

by TripAdvisor Member arissy

I just got back from my first trip to Rome with my sister and mother. Hotel Victoria is a decent hotel with the basic amenities covered. However, it is pretty out of the way from the main tourist attractions, such as those in Ancient Rome. It is within walking distance of the Spanish steps and Trevi Mountain. If it's your first time in Rome, you might be a bit frustrated with its location. However, once you understand the Metro and the bus lines, it's very accessible and quite convenient. we took the taxi once, upon arrival into Termini. I felt quite ripped off by the cab, so I didn't want to rely on taxis the rest of the vacation. We ended up taking the metro, the bus, or just walking everywhere.

Some of the staff was very helpful, but not all. But they are not rude either. The room was always very clean and spacious. The bathroom was clean. The breakfast was nothing to die for, but it's decent fare considering it's complimentary. It's enough to get you started on your day.

overall, if I return to Rome, I wouldn't mind staying in Hotel Victoria. But if you want to be where all the action is, this location might not be for you. You can find something much closer than here.

Loved this hotel

We, a group of seven from the U.S. who had already been to Venice, Verona and Florence, recently arrived in Rome without a hotel reservation. (We had cancelled our reservation at the Elite Hotel based on TripAdvisor comments.) One of our group owns a bed and breakfast in N.H., so she was able to negotiate a significant room discount for two single rooms and one triple.

We found the hotel to be superior in every way. The reception, meal and guest rooms were lovely, the bathrooms so spacious (after our hotels in other cities), the staff courteous and helpful and the location great for us. We did a lot of walking, and the location made it easy to find when we returned. We did not dine as a group in the hotel's restaurant, but some of us ordered room service and the food was delicious. Several times staff opened the bar just for us. Breakfast was ample and of good quality, in lovely surroundings.

I would rate the Victoria at least 3 stars, closer to 4. I would definitely recommend it to my friends and hope to return someday.

Hotel Victoria - a lovely stay

by A TripAdvisor Member

My husband, Mother and I stayed at the Hotel Victoria May 18-26, 2006. We had a very nice double room with a king bed (two twins pushed together), large bathroom with tub and very nice linens, two large windows that opened all of the way, a large closet with safe, tv, and minibar. mom's room was charming and much larger than we had anticipated.

The breakfast was very nice and included cereal, eggs, meats, cheeses, danish, canned and fresh fruit, juices, coffee, cappucino and teas. We were very appreciative that it was available from 6:30-10:30 am. the table linens and tuxedoed waiters were a nice touch.

Staff were generally helpful and we were able to get area directions, exchange money, and request to be connected to any long distance operator we wished. The concierge did forget to book our dinner reservations on one occasion, but that was easily remedied.

The housekeeping staff was excellent and never bothered us when we stayed in late. I travel every week and have never been in a cleaner hotel. The wait staff was excellent and the bartender insisted on bringing our drinks to the rooftop garden for us (a lovely spot that few visited but we enjoyed immensely).

We can not say enough about Nicolo at the front desk. He always had a kind word and a warm handshake for us when we left and returned, not to mention a 1000 watt smile!

The hotel was very reasonable at $250 for a single and $300 for a double per night. Very central on a lovely street off the Via Veneto, the Beverly Hills of Rome. Bus #95 is just around the corner and will connect you to any area of town - BELIEVE ME we visited all of them!

Definitely would recommend this hotel.

A Very Nice Hotel!

I was on a vacation in Rome with my family of 7 people and we truly enjoyed our stay. We encountered a very friendly, courteous and helpful staff all three nights of our visit. The front desk staff even allowed us to come behind the desk and use the hotel office computer when the guest computer with internet service wasn't functioning properly.

We had four comfortable, modern rooms with flat-screen televisions and beautiful spacious bathrooms with whirlpool tubs.

An ample breakfast buffet came with each room which starts at 6:30am. Even though a line forms well before the 6:30am start time, weary tourists who want to catch a few extra winks before starting their day can grab a bite from the buffet later in the morning.

There is also a lovely bartender who manages to handle three separate rooms within the lounge area all by himself with ease and grace even when impatient tourists fill each room to capacity.

While no one goes to Rome just for the hotels, Hotel Victoria adds to the beauty and excitement of the city. The hotel is also in a great location; short walking distance from food, shopping and a taxi stand. I highly recommend!

Rome Away From Home

by TripAdvisor Member mh999

After being turned away from La Scalinata, we were victorious in finding Hotel Victoria. Traveling with our two teenagers, we were able to book a "family room" with very comfortable beds for all four of us. Even with the two extra beds, the space was roomy with enough room for our luggage. Our room was immaculate in terms of cleanliness, but the rest of the hotel is showing a bit of wear (but it is not at all off-putting; people must love to stay at this place as the rugs need updating!) Great air conditioning; fantastic breakfast (fresh fruit, eggs, cheeses, meats, great pastries and wonderful coffee) included; and a good location. It was very quiet at night. We love to walk, and from this hotel we found some great restaurants nearby (La Bruschetta and Vladmiro). It is close to two subway stops (Spagna or Barberini). The staff was very accomodating and pleasant---all spoke English yet they kindly tolerated our attempts at speaking Italian. We actually spent four nights here at the start of our trip, then came back to spend our last night here. They welcomed us back so warmly that this hotel felt like our home away from home in Rome.

Looking foward to our next stay!

Our stay at the Victoria extended over 3 days/2 nights & included 2 rooms - one double for Mom & Dad, 1 triple for Grandma & 2 children. The location across the street from Villa Bourghese & around the corner from Via Veneto was ideal. The rates were extremely resonable, especailly given the location. Upon a very early arrival, we were pleasantly surprised with the immediate availability of one room (3 hours prior to check-in.) This gave us the ability to store all of our luggage into that room, & explore some of the city. The second room became available at scheduled check-in time. Our Rooms were spacious & clean with large bathrooms. A/C in the smaller room very good, yet larger corner room was just adequate. Staff (especially Massimo at front desk) were extremely helpful & friendly. Hotel offered nice breakfast buffet. Excellent resonable restaurant "La Bruschetta" just around the corner. Highly recommend when staying in Rome. Looking foward to our next stay!
