Ideal location

The hotel is a renovated 19th century mansion house in an ideal location to explore the city. It's location is a quiet street about 10 minutes walk to Termini & 5 minutes to Piazza della Repubblica. Many of the cities main attractions such as the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain & Spanish Steps are within walking distance.

Inside the hotel it was clean & tidy & the staff were friendly & helpful. Breakfast is a continental buffet, to be honest, not of great quality. There are plenty of places to eat near to the hotel.

The main problem was for the first of my 3 nights my single room wasn't available. I spent my first night in an urfurnished below standard apartment (see video). My room for the next 2 nights was ok though.

This one problem didn't spoil my holiday & the hotel is great value for its central location

Hello! I am currently doing the same search for my group's trip to Rome in August. May I assume that you have checked the reviews on www.TripAdvisor.com? Along with VT, they are an excellent resource and have helped me to narrow down my choices to two that provide central location, good rates, good service, clean and modern rooms and accept credit cards for payment. I negated anything too close to the train station right off, as the neighborhoods can be hit and miss as far as safety and niceness. Then I decided that I wanted no more than Euro 140 and basic amenities with good service would be preferable to the opposite. This left me with 3 hotels not on your list: Hotel Smeraldo, Hotel Parlamento and Hotel Panda.

It seems like your budget might be higher than mine, and in February you should be able to get some good off season rates. Nonetheless, you might check these 3 as they got great reviews, I've received excellent and immediate replies to my requests for info, they have great rates and are located near Campo de Fiori, right in the very center (near Piazza Parlamento) and near Spanish steps, respectively.

I do recognize some of the ones you mentioned as hotels that on reviews were mentioned as ones that "lost" some people's reservations and then tried to shuttle them off to other, crummier sister hotels in town. I marked these off right away. Again, check TripAdvisor and you'll see what I mean.

Buona fortuna! LL
