The Monument to the Military
by TinKan
One of the things you should see (and can not help but see) is the monument to the military. You can not go inside ( at least I never have been able to) but a walk around the building will impress you.
If you ever see pictures of speeches made during WW-II you will see large crowds use to gather here to listen to the latest from their leaders. There is a nice row of coffee shops across the street that you can sit and watch the lights come on at night and just watch the people go by.
Look in my travel log for more pictures of this monument to the military
Ostia Antica Abandoned City
by katalinarunning
Leaving Rome on the way to Pisa, just outside of Rome, we visited the abandoned city of Ostia Antica, which used to be considered a part of Rome. It was flooded by the Tiber River and mud covered the city, which was built 2000 years ago. It was about half uncovered when we were there in 2004. The history of the city is intriguing. It is all outdoor, of course and hot there, so dress in cool clothing and comfortable shoes. We saw Fortunato's Wine Cavern, their theatre, their homes, their temple, their kitchen, their public bathroom, and their public swimming/bathing pools, which consited of a cold, warm, and hot pool. The theatre could seat 4000 in their day, but today, it will only seat 15,000 because we have increased that much in size. Their lifespan was only 42-43 years.
Romeing Tours
by PolyAna about A few local bars and clubs
If you want to do an awesome pub-crawl, take the Romeing Tours night tour of Rome. It is a 45 minute night tour of the Spanish Steps, Trevi fountain, and some other places I don't remember right now. Anyways, it ends up with a pub-crawl for which they sell drink tokens for like 3 euro each(trust me that's cheap). And, they tour guides are hot American boys. A must, if you want to meet new people and get wasted. Whatever you feel like wearing.
Great Place near Piazza Navona
by dambr32 about Osteria del Gallo
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Rome. Few steps from Piazza Navona. I suggest the homemade pastas, but everything on the menu is outstanding. I will definetely go back there.
I love Rome ! Roma Caput Mundi. Homemade Pasta
Hop-in hop-off buses in Rome
by travellingtechie
There are several tour buses that operate around Rome. Most of them start from Termini and you can hop-on-hop-off from them at tourist spots like the Colloseum, Vittorio Emanuel Monument, St. Peters' Basilica, etc. there are some details available on viator as well but you need not book them before hand...just reach there and take a bus ticket for any one of them.
Happy travelling!
