More about Welrome Hotel
Welcomed at Welrome

Our experience at the Welrome Hotel was pleasant from begining to end. We stayed two nights in September of 2007.
The Welrome is in a fine area near the Termini Stazione. I have heard said that the area around the station is a bit seedy, but I found it to be safe. The area is busy and crowded because of the location near all trains, subways and buses. It is a main transit hub. It is a clean, graffity free neighborhood that looks like many other areas in the city. There was one prostitue seen and a drug addict or two but no nasty business. Beware of pickpockets but that goes without saying anywhere.
The hotel itself is on a quiet dead end street where you will find other hotels and a restaurant. The Welrome takes up the whole building and is not one of the "mixed use building hotels" you find elsewhere for this price range. It has about 6 or 7 rooms. The rooms are, clean, simple and on the small side. The beauty of staying at the Welrome is the warm and helpful owners. They went way out of there way to help us feel welcome and help us in any way possible. Not ever have I encountered such accomidating and helpful hotel owners. As I exited the hotel one day Carlo told me if I had my map of Rome, which I forgot, and gave me another on the spot and admonished me for walking without one in such a confusing new city. With these two you hardly need to do any prior work listing sites. They went over our list of sites and helped us find a few we missed! And, went ahead and maped out on our map where we had to make our lefts and rights. It would be foolish to stay anywhere else for this price, if of course you dont need a luxury hotel.
You really need a map in Rome, dont even try navigating without one. And I dont suggest driving. Wow, what a nightmare!
Dead end streets, one ways, traffic circles, trust me, im from N.Y. im used to crazy traffic and tangled streets but this takes the prize.
Warm welcome at the Welrome

The Welrome was a very enjoyable place to stay in Rome and in a great location. Mary, the manager, is a true delight. She was so warm and friendly and so helpful! Truly a darling woman. The room was spotless and comfortable although the shower was very small and the bed was two singles put together- not very comfortable but not bad for Italy. We stayed in the Navona room which looked out onto the alley where there was a restaurant right below us. When we had the windows open it was a bit noisy and we could smell smoke from the cigarette smokers but did love hearing the accordion player every night outside our window. When the windows were closed, the room was quite soundproof. The room had a TV and a safe and a phone.
Gotta love the Welrome

We stayed at Welrome for 3 nights in September at the beginning of a month in Italy and France. After an overnight (21 hour) flight from Australia we were in fairly ordinary condition by the time we reached Roma. It was somewhat fortuitous then that our first hotel had such delightful - Mary and Carlos put us at ease from the first moment and were gracious and helpful. Our room (Spagna) was cosy but neat and comfortable for a a family of four - we had an interesting streetscape outside our window above the restaurant next door- it was interesting but not noisy. Close to Termini meant that we could access all sights and transportation on foot. An excellent bar with good coffee at the end of the street provided a brilliant and rustic start to the day. Mary and Carlos provided excellent advice about navigating our way to the multitude of things we wanted to see and do in Rome. When our 11 year old daughter became ill Mary even offered (graciously declined) to take care of her whilst we continued to sightsee!!!
It was a very warm welcome indeed.
Great little hotel for a city break

Rome is an amazing city and the Welrome Hotel is ideally situated on a cul de sac less than 10 minutes walk from the Termini Station.Maria and Carlo are most helpful and gave us some very useful information about the city, places to eat, gelateria etc.
Wonderful hosts!!!

We stayed at Welrome in April 2007 and it was great -- Mary and Carlo are awesome, so helpful and the hotel is clean and nice. The location near Termini is great for catching buses and trains for day trips. The price is unbeatable for very expensive Rome -- I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed for 4 nights in Rome and cou;dn't have had a better stay. The horel is conveniently close to the train station and you won't find a more hospitable place than with Mary and Carlo. They really make you feel welcome and at home and give great advice for seeing the known and unknown parts of Rome. The rooms we had was extremely comfortable with a proper air conditioning and a fridge. I can recommend the hotel to anyone who likes to get the most out of his trip to Rome
Perfect

The location is perfect, a short walk from Termini where most travellers to Rome arrive. You can drop your bags and be sightseeing in Rome in minutes. The hotel is also near to Termini and Rebubblica subway stops with access to both lines and quick, convenient travel to more distant locations like the Vatican.
The hotel doesn't provide breakfast but does have an arrangement with a snackbar nearby where the food is fresh and the staff are very friendly. Mary recommended the La Famiglia restaurant on next street toward Termini that proved great for evening meals sat at pavement tables.
Our room at the Pantheon was a twin that was clean and well funished. Extras like aircon, a fridge and a room safe were really appreciated and free of charge.
Mary herself is a great host, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She gave us 3 x guides to Rome, again free of charge, that were invaluable round the city although we'd taken two guide books of our own.
If you're considering this hotel go ahead and book - you won't be disappointed.
Memorable Stay

My husband and I stayed there for 3 nights in July this year. The Room and bathroom were very clean. The room was very quite at night. The double windows keep all the noise out. It is just about 5-8 minutes walk from Termini Station.. The lady, Mary, and her husband (I guess) were very friendly and proud of Rome’s culture and history. Mary gave us good advice on places to see and she insisted that we see Rome on foot. We really enjoyed that experience. She made advance reservation for Borghese Museum for us and that was VERY useful. There is a small refrigerator in the room to store breakfast items.
Can't beat the hospitality

Our stay was dominated by the overwhelming hospitality of our hosts Mary and Carlo (when do they sleep?!?!) and their genuine desire to ensure that we had the best possible time while in Rome. No matter how early we headed off or how late we returned, one of them would be there to welcome us and offer assistance. Carlo is clearly passionate about Rome and its culture and will go out of his way to make sure you know how to get to all the places of interest. Their recommendations are generally very good, particularly the gelati. Carlo can give you an excellent choice of complimentary flavours to order at San Crispino! However, there is also an excellent gelataria just around the corner, only recently opened - it had our favourite lemon gelati in Italy, and we tried some of the best in Venice and Rome!! The location is extremely convenient (we walked everywhere except to the Vatican), and while our guidebook warned about the Termini area after dark, we never had a problem - keeping to the areas where there were plenty of people around.
The room was clean and comfortable and reasonably sized for Europe. There is a restaurant next door and the sounds of traditional Italian songs played by accordian etc float up from downstairs. There are also double glazed windows that do an excellent job of keeping out the noise of the restaurant patrons when required. The rooms are air conditioned and ours worked extremely well, which was very much appreciated considering we were there in the heat of August.
Overall, this is an excellent choice of place to stay. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for great hospitality and value for money.

I do not know either of the hotels but in terms of location, they are both close by one another, and both just off Via Nazionale. That is where we have stayed the last 4 times in Rome, and is a great location, a walk to just about anywhere (except perhaps over the Tiber to San Pietro / Vatican). Looking at tripadvisor website I see Seiler normally scores 1 /5, and the first review of 2007 is totled "Cancel Your Reservation" !
Welrome is beside Republicca and Termini metros/ trains and IMHO looks a far better bet
